Opinion: Best .22 handgun

Mk series Rugersare hard to beat, I still have the first pistol I ever bought and my wife and boys love to shoot them, a Ruger single six,I have two now, but they have gotten expensive. The MK series are sill affordable and are a great value. That's what I'd do.
Another vote for the Taurus tx22 shoots like a dream and lone wolf has them for 260 otd. I’m sure you can save a few bucks if you order one online but with Uncle Sam getting his cut nowadays not a big difference price wise.
I have, and enjoy, the Ruger MKII & III, the Browning Buckmark, the S&W 2206/622/422 series, and a S&W Model 17 or 18. Any of those should serve you well (the S&W 2206 etc. are long out of production...so might not be a great choice for you).
But...I was also going to recommend the Taurus TX-22. Now, I've never shot, nor even handled one. But I've certainly seen tons of positive reviews, and vids...some even from people who say that, in general, they do NOT like Taurus products. Now, several users on here have likewise recommended the pistol, and they actually own one. At the very least, I would definitely take a look at one.

I have 3 Ruger SR 22’s (one with a threaded barrel for a suppressor) and love them. I only wish they could hold more than 10 rounds. They function awesome and do well to train new shooters on semi auto firearms without the recoil concern.

Well that’s disappointing, but would probably be worth the cost for the added enjoyment.

Well that’s disappointing, but would probably be worth the cost for the added enjoyment.
I would recommend staying away from the Sig Sauer Mosquito. I bought my girl one that was pink and black. I had a few people recommend them to me, however it was the worst gun I had ever owned for jamming up. I only ran CCI Mini mag in it and it still jammed up every 20-30 rounds.
I now own a Ruger SR .22 and love it. I’ve been through 500 plus rounds and have yet to have a jam.

I have always had great luck with the walther p22. Nice compact my wife and kids all loved shooting it. Pretty much any of the ruger mrk1 mrk2 pistols are amazing and they have a few models with the 1911 frame which would be more common to you. Im currently looking into the new ruger and s&w mp22 they recently came out with. Both have good reviews and seem pretty reliable
The Taurus TX22 out of the box is currently my favorite 22 shooter. You can't beat the price and so far it eats everything off my shelf. I don't remember the last time I ran this much 22 ammo through just one pistol at a sitting. Its also an easy one to break down....I got several old ruger 22's and we know how much fun they are(newer units they fixed).
For .22 Handguns I have my Dads old Ruger Single six (my all time favorite) convertable, S&W 422 (suppressor host and the most hated of all) two Browning Buckmarks (that I recommend to everyone), ruger MKII bull barrel (stays in the safe-to damn heavy).
If I'm letting a new shooter try one its usually one of the Brownings. Light, Good trigger, Very Accurate. Love my dads old single six very nostalgic plus I love single actions.
