Looks like terrorism in New Orleans

So last night during the new year revelry in the Big Easy, some dude drove an F150 into a crowd of people, killing many. Moments later, as cops were trying to extricate him from the wreck, he produced a weapon and opened fire, and was promptly perforated prodigiously by police projectiles.

Not only was he flying an ISIS flag on the truck's bumper, but he appeared to be a bearded man of middle-eastern extraction, and was wearing rifle plate body armor and a surplus US Army PASGT kevlar helmet. Photos of the dead driver laid out in the street hours later in the daylight seem to indicate police have exercised an abundance of caution disturbing the scene in case there are booby traps. Photos from a balcony above the scene show hard rifle case in the truck bed, as well as plastic storage tote. The Texas plates on the truck come back as a rental. Too early to put stock in the swirling of rumors found online right now, but one of those rumors is that the guy is known to have crossed the border 2 days ago into Texas (unconfirmed). Another unconfirmed bit is that explosives were found in a "cooler". That description might fit the tote in the bed. It would also explain why the body is left for hours in the open.
