Anyone have a way to contact him?

Here's the deal. Some other associates of mine are searching high and low for components. The came across a fellow in Phoenix. They think it's shady because the fellow wants payment via Zelle and a $200 minimum order. No issues with the minimum order. Have spent more than that. But here's the kicker:

- address listed for the dealer; he apparently isn't at that address
- his phone # is a Texas number; ok, not really a big deal
- Gary apparently holds the FFL for this guys' business

If there is a way to get in touch with Gary would like to run it by him before falling for a possible scam.

Thanks!

BTW....been so long since I logged on here didn't know if my login would work. :D

It's a scam. I've paid for gun components with Zelle, but only once picking up in person. Once you send money with Zelle, there's no getting it back, so it's perfect for scammers promising to ship your order.

We seem to agree as well but it's awful damn funny this business is listing an FFL for a person whom I've done business with in the past. So would like to hear it from Gary.

probably a good thing this came up, there is a gaggle of fraud going on right now, some individuals are using the shortage as most know to take advantage of those in dire need, this thread will alert some who may find that"'too good to be true'' so called deal

suffice to say, components, mostly some powder and all primers are tough to find,

its a lesson for most, when times are good, forgo the 12 pack a few times a month and buy goods, as much as you can and lay it up. Its nor hoarding its being prepared.

i wouldn't be shooting as much as i do, well i hope to when time allows if i had not layed up a few years supply, of course not knowing this bullshiate would show up, one can only plan so much.
good luck, share results as time allows

Will reach out to him shortly.

As Rj pointed out, lot of scams out there. Thus why I'm hesitant to post the shop's name without having talked with Gary first. I don't want to put out a "potential scam" warning only to find out the opposite and if it isn't legit then does Gary know?

More to come.

Update time, and that was quick. Just got off the phone with Gary. He's doing well. He got out of the components business in 2017.

He confirmed the vendor is a scam and that he has been in contact with the ATF about it. The vendor apparently attempted to purchase a firearm using Gary's FFL.

Gary appreciated the call and was fine with my posting an alert here. That said, the vendor name is:

Also, a similar discussion going on here:

I spoke with Gary awhile back he is not around with that bed full of primers and powders much these days. Just chatted about 5 mins. I suspect he would be a good info source if nothing else.

Google tells me a few things, as well as their website address with a Texas area code for a phone number.

The building on google maps is all but empty, and the TX area code is a bit of a red flag as well.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Yup....exact same information my other associates came up with. When they mentioned Gary I was a bit surprised as I had heard he got out of the game so that's what prompted checking on this. And, they were surprised that I knew him.

Anyway, we've got the rest of the story and hopefully it saves some of you some pain should you have come across the website and didn't dig a little deeper.

I'm still around. Just haven't logged in much. Lurked a couple of times but work has been keeping me well occupied. Poole keeps trying to get me back out on the line that I should consider retirement.

components are tough to get, real ugly have had back orders in for a gaggle of stuff for long time, rumor is only small batches making it to vendors, and of course price is up and over, hope you find some goods

80 shot at Avery this coming saturday! you could shoot then continue up to northern command.

to keep it on topic, I too have almost been caught by the gun seller scammers... found what I wanted on a very legit looking website added the item to the shopping cart, their FFL page said they would match up with a local FFL on file, great... or I could have my LGS submit the FFL.... looked at the payment page and saw they accept Zelle, great that makes it easy, then I noticed they accept bitcoin and nothing else....huh???, googled for it and found a bunch of scam reports. Not long after that, searching for some oddball brass I found a place had it in stock at a pre-panic price, again Zelle and bitcoin only.... read more of the website carefully and found a few things that didn't make sense, like "we have a large inventory of handguns and machine guns in stock", needless to say I kept shopping.

I got burned by a real scam - not-gun related - Saw an ad on youtube playing for weeks just before christmas for something functional, so I ordered it with paypal, when the box arrived it was a cheap plastic figurine that was so different from what was advertized, it constitutes mail fraud for them to have shipped it, plus, it arrived broken.... after days of dickering with the vendor offering 30%, then 50% then 70% refund, paypal finally reports 100% refund. In our hobby paypal discriminates against us, but at least in this case it was helpful to have their resolution system.

Crap like this re-affirms my support of the death penalty.
