GODDAM that's a sexy looking rifle :violence-snipersmiley:Conelrad said:A FAL is a lot better battle rifle. It has been one of the top choices (that & the G3) for a half century by those that need the firepower over that of a 'poodle shooter'.
Maybe not a better target rifle past 400m in the basic form, but it can be tuned to enhance performance without resorting to expensive gunsmithing and reliability reducing mods.
The FAL is a lot easier to maintain, select options for (less $), and is a lot less ammo-sensitive.
Get one if you want something you can bet your life on.

Us (over 60) like those from back then.
The youngsters like those AR's.

Where as the FN FAL and M1A were made more for running in a dirty environment. I'm not telling you your wrong. In a overwatch scenario great gun. In a dust storm in the desert not so much.

Guess,I had a rare M 14 in Nam. It was in salt water, mud and sand and it work when needed. day in and day out with no screw ups. Unlike the M-16's we had on the boats.Elk34 said:In a haboob you get sand in your a**hole. I've had ar10 fail in the desert and in muddy environments more than the M1a or Fal. The open face bolt on the fal and m1a are easier to manage then the AR10. Even when your pour in the oil. The AR10 just has alot more matainance to it then the others. I got so made I threw my Ar10 and all that came with it into a lake and said fu,&k you. I picked up I believe it was a Brazilian fal and I could pour mud into it and it would stay running. I'm just saying it has its place and from my experience it's not on the battlefield it's looking over it.
