Out of the given choices FAL. Expand the choices- still would roll with the FAL, but a 7.62 AR is interesting too because of the availability and ability to build exactly what you want.

I had an early import Belgium made type 2 receiver FAL. While I like it after shooting it a while I still like my Devine TX M1A much better and finally sold it recently.

Here is an early pic of my HK91, taken in the 80's. I had installed the PSG-1 trigger group and had the factory tip off claw mount. Funny back then the only scope (for a reasonable price) I could find that looked like it belonged on the rifle was a matte finished Leupold 3x9 compact.

I was having trouble with my FAL with the gas adjustment. It was cracked and was only a single shot. Once I put a new one on, it runs perfect.

I vote for an FAL

Autoloaders are pretty much binary machines...they either run or not.

Sometimes by mechanical breakage/adjustment, sometimes by design.

Love the 91 and I appreciate the FAL, but the M1A feels and functions perfectly (for me). Not as easy or affordable to scope, but it can still be done. The FAL certainly has a track record, but they don’t feel comfortable to me, so I enjoy shooting them less.
The 91 is smooth as butter, but I still shoot the M1A more often, and better.

I have and M1A, FAL, but prefer the HK91 for a battle rifle and it just feels better in my hands. I'm good with the factory sights minute of paper plate at 400 yards with nato spec ammunition + I have 40 surplus mags for it. Just my choice your results may vary.
