Word tonite is that the latest Ukrainian missile attack on the Russian Navy in port at Sevastopol has not only set it on fire, but has seemed to have sunk a Kilo class sub at its moorings. Dang, that's gotta hurt! Subs ain't cheap,...even crappy Russian ones. It's not exactly like losing Red October, but ouch!

Well, regardless of what side you fall on about the West supporting the Ukrainians,...no one can argue there is zero risk us getting accidentally tangled up in it due to undisciplined trigger-happy twerps.

Russia fired on a British signals intelligence plane,...TWICE,...as it flew over the Black Sea. Some want to label it a "spy plane" in order to lessen any condemnation of the Russians for firing on it and trying to suggest that the Russians were "provoked". And while the RC-135W 'Rivet Joint' (basically a Boeing 707 jammed full of computerized electronic signals listening gear) does indeed "spy", the term "spy plane" gives the impression of flying over sovereign territorial airspace. Which is not what happened. This was over international waters, and no different than when the Russians do the same thing off the California or Florida coast and perform the exact same intel gathering activities.

Fortunately, both missiles missed. The Russians immediately apologized for the event, claiming mechanical error was responsible,...TWICE. But now, a year later, the Brits are revealing that among the signals intelligence they accumulated that day showed the Russian pilot misunderstood communications with the ground control station and fired WITHOUT authorization,...TWICE. His wingman cursed him out on the air for his fug up.
