The title of the article that grabbed my attention and made me click on it was The American Guns That Mexican Cartels Covet: A Visual Guide. I figured I already knew the models they would list, but my curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to take a look.
Right away, the first gun listed was a G.E. Minigun. Well,...yeah,...technically American,...and I want one too. But the article kind of gave the impression that we were going to be looking at guns AVAILABLE TO AMERICANS that were bought here and smuggled south. And there ain't no miniguns going south. We would have heard about that.
But then I see the supposed price of a Minigun is only $50,000. WTF!!!!!! From an illicit arms dealer, perhaps. But the only available NFA-registered miniguns in the U.S. sell for WAAAAAAAYYYYYY more than that! Again,...WTF? So I look at the picture's header, and it lists the source of the price as "BuffBridge". Hmmm,...I haven't heard of BuffBridge. So I Google them. They are an AIRSOFT outfitter,...in THAILAND. And yes, they do sometimes sell an airsoft minigun,...for 50,000 bhat!!!!
Jesus Christ, WSJ,...lay off the booze.
But then I keep looking.
It turns out that supposedly FN America will sell you a semi-automatic M249 SAW,...that has an RPM of 850?!?!?! Must be one of those fully semi-automatics, I guess. :eusa-think: :violence-minigun:
But wait,...there's more!!
Did you know that M72 LAW anti-tank rockets can be had right here in the US of A for just $750 bucks? Well, the Wall Street Journal says so. So it must be true, right? I mean, they do list it as made in Norway, so obviously it's not on the list mistakenly because someone thought it was made here, right? So the inference is that somewhere, somehow, $750 bucks gets you a tank popper.
And apparently the .22 caliber version of the U.S. M9 service pistol is also highly sought after by the cartels. I've never seen one,...but Wall Street Journal, so I must be ignorant, yeah?
