USPS here- the worst I’ve ever seen

Problems I have had with UPS / Fedex in the last year or so = 0.

Problems I have had with USPS? Every single shipment. Seriously. I cringe when I find out a seller has shipped an item that will be placed in their hands.

I have had 4 packages in the last year show up with the box damaged (ripped open, item missing, obviously stolen) and the little "we are sorry" note inside the box. They all shared one thing in common - once the item was thirty days past shipment, the empty box appears. Seems fishy.

Certified/priority/etc letters. I have had several (2 or 3) checks sent with the extra paid for next day/two day/whatever packaging. None showed up on time. The senders resent. None showed up on time. One was a day late, and it was a reissue, and the original showed up the day after (being two weeks late.)

I try to get people to use UPS or FedEx but some people won't for whatever reason.

Not to mention the absolute shit attitude of the people at the counter working at the post offices. I have yet to encounter a friendly one (and I am one of those people who are an easy customer.)

You people wouldn't last a day as a carrier 😂, and put your money where your mouth is. Most places I know offer a choice between FedEx, ups, and the post office. Why not just use the others?

I'd last longer than that, even at my age. The only problem is that I'd probably go postal since I can't stand working for incompetents and that's all they have for management there.

Had a friend a number of years ago who went to work as a mail carrier. He'd go to work at 6, sort and deliver the mail, return the vehicle and go home no later than noon.

He got tons of complaints from other employees who said he only could do that because he got the easy routes.

So the boss started giving him different and harder routes. Ultimately he ended up with the hardest route the post office had.

He'd get to work at 6am, sort and deliver the mail and return the vehicle and go home. Then he'd take a shower, change and go have lunch with me at noon.

And to answer the question about why not using the others, I do whenever I can but some places give you no choice or use "Smartpost" or some such thing so you think you've got UPS and you do until the USPS gets it from them, then the wait starts....

I have no problem with the post office either.
I have had a few problems with UPS and none with USPS.
As a matter of fact when the old site was up one of the members sent me some cash through USPS and forget to put postage on it. It was sent to my P.O. Box. I got a notice it had arrived in my box.
I went to the counter and had to pay the 50 cent postage but got my cash.

UPS on the other hand is constantly leaving my packages at one of the neighbors or another , and I am the only one on the road with a posted address.
I still haven't received a package that has been setting at their hub here in Tucson for over a week now.
I tried to see if I can pick it up and they keep saying " no it will be delivered ".
UPS sucks. I hate using them.

You should be happy that UPS is leaving your packages at your neighbors house. Much better than them being left on your porch and then stolen off of your front porch because its in plain sight.

It might not be bad if they would let the neighbors know.
All the properties around here are fenced in and they just leave them in front of the gate by the road.
They do it all the time. I have come home and found packages in front of my gate that aren't even addressed to my street.

Well its happening to me again!! :)

I sent a package out yesterday. I am in East Mesa .. package is going to Sun city .. checked this morning .. its in ALBUQUERQUE NM. I think that is the wrong direction!!

A couple of years ago I repaired a holster for someone in surprise. Told him instead of making the trip back out here that I would drop it in the mail for 3 bucks.
It went to texas, went north, came west to Washington state before swinging back down to the west side of Arizona. Took over 2 weeks to travel about 45 miles.

Yay government funded work fair programs

I had a Kidd 2-stage trigger go tango uniform Saturday. It was marked as delivered in/at the mailbox at 2:10PM. I got home from the store at about 2:25PM. Mailbox was empty. So either someone was frickin’ johnny on the spot stealing it, or USPS marked it delivered and it wasn’t. I’ve had that happen once before, and it got delivered a few days later. I’m hoping that’s what happened this time as well...

They lose 2B monthly now business shipping is near nil. Could go totally under soon without another B word...Bailout.

Got a couple of packages from Wisconsin to here in Tempe in 3 days. And one from S. Carolina in 2 in the last 2 weeks.

My guess is it's all down to the malcontents who are manning both ends of the rope.

Be thankful for just slow. I have had 2 items delivered to the correct house number but the wrong street. That still blows me away.

Dan...

If UPS is so much better than USPS , why does UPS hand off their packages to USPS to deliver?
They do it all the time.
I have had quite a few packages that were sent with UPS and were handed off to USPS to deliver.
USPS never hands their packages off to UPS.
Just curious. Inquiring minds want to know.

Signed up for a PO Box today. Cost me $92 for 13mos (12 +1 free). Sucks, but at least now I know who to point the finger at when packages go missing. Still pretty pissed about that Kidd trigger... :x

Any luck tracking it down or progress on a claim?

I found out what the issue is with the mail handler at the local post office. So I ask her about a tracking number for a package I am expecting. She gets on the computer and has her face about 4 inches from the screen. Turns out she has cataracts. The bitch can't see wtf she's doing! She's a nice enough lady and we haven't had any packages go to the wrong house lately but yeah she's got issues.

Sounds like those of you with USPS issues have bad regional branches...

I was expecting a package to be delivered this upcoming Monday....it arrived today, 2 business days early.

Never had any USPS issues myself. It's a small miracle that you can drop nearly anything into a box, pay less than $35, and it arrives on the other side of the country in just a few days. But if you have issues, feel free to drive a letter to Maine and deliver it yourself.

Everyone likes to bitch about USPS , but UPS and FEDX have their problems too.
Personally I have had way less problems with USPS than the other two.

It would appear that I'm either having really bad luck lately, or something is clearly overwhelming the underwhelming USPS. Every single thing I've ordered in the last couple of months that's been shipped USPS Priority has been delayed by at least 3 days, sometimes longer than a week. An order from GMW sat at the same PHX location for 6 DAYS before they finally threw it on a truck and brought it to me.
