One day, all of that will be homes as far as you can see.
Google "St John's" and especially the area to the east of it to see why.

RandyTF said:Thing about retiring is, you are usually old at that point. When you are old, you need to stay close to doctors and hospitals so "living in the middle of nowhere" is risky business. Living on the outskirts of somewhere works for me.

They said the daily commute was killing them.

You couldn't get a weekly rate? Or a short term house (vacation?) rental?Harrier said:For my 6 weeks of treatment at Mayo Clinic i had to rent hotel rooms at between 60 and 120 a night plus eating out every night. Couldn't see driving 600 miles RT every day.

Was just asking.Harrier said:That was a weekly rate... also negotiated with every discount I could get them to accept. One 'problem' was that rates are adjusted every week at the hotels based on what season it is and they kept going up (Oct-Nov). So I had to shop around week to week. Vacation rentals have hidden cleaning fees and other add-ons they don't mention in their advertised rate ad until you try to book one. The ACA was of very little help- they wanted to put us in a real dump for $30 a nite- ever go to an Extended Stay? they are the pit of the pits and house homeless to keep the rooms occupied...

What good things and bad things are you talking about ?
Even if the " good things " were on two separate sides of town you could still get from one to another a heck of a lot quicker than you could if they were in Phoenix. You can drive all the way across Tucson in the time it takes you to get a couple miles in Phoenix.
