I am now very happy I decided not to pursue a career in law enforcement.

Officer rolls up on a person with a knife, during an active attempt to stab someone...shoots her...people freak out.

OR

Officer rolls up on a a person with a knife, during an active attempt to stab someone...officer waits for her to plunge the knife into someone...then shoots her...people still freak out.

There is no "win" in this situation.

Salty Cracker is the man! He does a great job of getting incredibly dark news across in a surprisingly upbeat way.

My heart aches for that cop. As others have said, what could he have done? It was a total loose loose. The only way it could have gotten worse is if he let her stab the other girl, and then he shot. Then they would say he murdered two black people... Because obviously, this was only motivated by race. :roll:

Tough time to be a cop. Watching the video, while being a poor substitute to being there, looks like he saved one girl from a long hospital stay and possibly the morgue. Whole lot of peripheral stuff going on at the same time and a split second to make a decision.

That gentleman really had his focus hat on straight.

I would gladly pick up garbage before taking that job even with the decent good salary and bennies.

But guys .. Please keep this in mind because I believe it to my core and actually think it goes beyond the white and black. Some of you are not keeping your eye on the ball.

It's well known that I am very critical of cops. IMO, there are far too many that are arrogant, badge-heavy bullies, and it is a matter of public record that generally, they can't shoot worth a bucket of warm spit. However, I am in the front row cheering when they get it right.

The guy in Ohio got it right. That was a masterful exhibition of focus and skill. He had hardly any time at all. As Boriqua noted, there were a lot of other distractions, like the second fight going on right in front of him. He immediately identified the most serious threat. He drew fast as hell, and he fired accurately.

That was a perfect performance. He should get a medal.

That's what I was wondering about. In the full bodycam video, that girl in pink is sitting over by the garage door yelling something, but I can't make it out with all of the other yelling that's happening.
