Dear Valued Sportsman’s Guide Customer,

As you are probably aware, the United States has been experiencing an ammunition shortage dating back to early 2020. According to industry experts, ammo is expected to remain scarce for at least another year. Multiple factors have contributed to the current shortage, including:

· Supply chain disruptions during the pandemic

· A new surge in gun ownership

· The bankruptcy of a major supplier

· Shortages of primers and other raw material

· New sanctions on Russian ammunition put in place by the Biden administration

During this period of heightened demand and constrained supply, Sportsman’s Guide allowed backorders to be placed on certain ammunition. In good faith, we believed our suppliers would make good on their promises to deliver inventory.

However, after nearly 2 years, suppliers are still unable to fulfill most of our purchase orders or provide reliable dates indicating when ammunition will reach our warehouse.

Based on continued uncertainty and extremely long delays of receiving inventory, we have decided to cancel all customer backorders for ammo.

We know you have waited patiently and done everything correctly to keep your backorder in place. But we simply don’t feel it’s right for us to keep pushing your order out and being unable to provide you with a reliable date for delivery, with no end in sight.

We know this news is disappointing, and we deeply apologize for falling short of your expectations. Our goal is to delight our customers with every transaction, and it pains us to be unable to do so in this instance. Canceling your order is the last thing we wanted to do, but we feel it’s the right thing to do. We truly value your business and hope you understand why we made this difficult decision.

As a small token of appreciation, we are sending you a promotional $25.00 gift card valid through 7/31/22. We know you’d rather have your ammo, but we hope this small gift helps make things right.

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Sportsman’s Guide

Well, I am sure they would much rather have your money.
How about Biden and the Democrats, go F yourself?

haha, boiler plate letter for the industry, getting that on all the back order on primers, ugh, someones fault, just who.............hmmm

2 years of backorder sounds pretty reasonable. Seriously doubt they will get that restock for the same price they had it listed when you ordered. If you don't want that gift card, I'm sure someone else would enjoy it.

Don't see the issue here. At least they are not letting orders sit in limbo like a bunch of companies and keep the customer in the dark.....

I have the same question as to whose really behind this shortage.

Lol I love how these posts always seem to circulate on here and just like a person with dementia decides they are going to order something from Sportsmans Guide and then will show up on here ranting how they f***ed them over.

I can count on it just as sure as I can count on the morning sun rising. lol.

Stop ordering from them. It's the same as ordering something from Optics Planet and expecting it to arrive faster than something with stamps.

When you're "screwed", that's just the way it is, and if/when all of
these "shortages" are resolved, most people won't "learn" anyway,
and they'll fail to build/keep an intelligent level of "preparedness"
which they should have done in the first place.

I've made A LOT of money, selling my guns/ammo to fools who laugh
at those who prepare, and then whine when they're in need because
of "shortages".

so what do we learn from this, when u want something and it says BACKORDER guess what IT AINT comin..we have all experienced this before and ive learned from the past..if the ammo needed is not available at the time you just aint gettin it unless you pay or look elsewhere like private party...i think you made out with the $25 gift card, go spend it and move on as you cant blame them...

VITAXIN you nailed it about being prepared. Years ago, friends and fellow shooters thought I was crazy for reloading ammo. Now I have numerous 50 cal. cans full of ammo. Can't remember the last time I bought ammo.

You still buy it, but it's just unassembled.

Some people choose to pay the assembly fee.

This

I think it was pretty stand up for Sportsmen's to give out $25 gift cards even though this was something beyond their control.

I wonder how many they gave out as a good will gesture, when they could have just sent you out an Email saying "Too bad, so sad....."

That is real customer service on their part.

You make an olive loaf sandwich for lunch to pack to work. Some go to Port of Subs. You both eat a sandwich for lunch. You did it cheaper.
