I saw where he refused to comply with the subpoena to return the docs as he was required to do. I saw where he continued to lie about not possessing the docs as he was no longer authorized to be in possession of them.

Again basic facts elude you.

These are presidential records. They are required to be surrendered to the National Archives even if they were not classified. The separate issues is if he mishandled classified info, which may also apply to his case.

Trump also has NOT claimed he declassified them. He claims he COULD have, by just “thinking about it”. Not that he actually declassified them. The special master asked his lawyers for a list of documents he claimed to have unclassified. His lawyers didn’t respond. If he declassified them, he had to do it while he was President, not after. He also had to follow the declassification notification procedures, which he didn’t.

So in this case it is a breach of the Presidential Records act and very likely mishandling of classified docs. It doesn’t matter if he declassified them or not. They were documents owned by the US government, not him. He had to surrender them upon leaving office.
