If you know,...you know.

If you don't know,... Heinlein wrote early sci-fi back before Star Trek or Star Wars. If you haven't read any of his books, you've probably seen STARSHIP TROOPERS, which as good as it was failed to even approach how far better the book is.

And if none of that rings a bell, here are some of his most quoted lines you've probably encountered;

“Don't handicap your children by making their lives easy.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“Almost any sect, cult, or religion will legislate its creed into law if it acquires the political power to do so.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“There are no dangerous weapons; there are only dangerous men.”― Robert A. Heinlein

“An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“A generation which ignores history has no past — and no future.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“God created men to test the souls of women.”― Robert A. Heinlein

“If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for ... but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong.” ― Robert A. Heinlein

“Government! Three fourths parasitic and the other fourth Stupid fumbling.” -- Robert A. Heinlein

CS Lewis is another to take from, he's got many but this is my favorite.

Every proposition and judge gets a NO vote from me.

Heinlein was one of the first science fiction writers I read. He had some very thought provoking ideas in his stories. Been many years, I should go back and reread some.
