I'm thinking you're referring to LA FEMME NIKITA which came out in 1990, but I never saw the original. However, the American remake, POINT OF NO RETURN, in 1993 with Bridgette Fonda, had her using one.

The funny thing is that the scenes right after the plane crashed - where Tommy Lee Jones is at the hospital - that was filmed in my home town (Benton, KY) and at the time it was a town of 4k people. You would have thought Jesus appeared by the reaction to the locals had to a movie being filmed there. Lol.
