Laveen has been nice and quiet till the Dyke brought all of the Katrina section 8 'refugees' here. Now the 202 coming through the rez and through Laveen is going to change that even more for the worse. Lots of farmland getting bought up and getting developed.
I really loved Laveen. When my wife and I bought our house out there we thought we moved to mayberry. It was quiet, kids threw their bikes in front of their house and left it there, which was shocking to me. There was a ton of old unpaved roads to take a walk on and it was really nice. Sure their werent alot of amenities but it had a fryes so what more do you need.
Our house had a nice view of South mountain and we had a beautiful home with a 30 ft pool. Was great taking a short ride and be hiking up south mountain. Phoenix rod and gun was right there as well.
Then came the housing crash and in short time our idyllic little life turned quick. With the foreclosures came HUD. I know they mean well but HUD feels like the vultures that wait on a dying neighborhood.
Gangs of kids fighting in front of our house, regular breakins, they broke into the car and taking walks at night suddenly seemed not such a good idea. Then a few shootings and we decided we had enough.
Its too bad .. it was a dream home.
I hated Scottsdale .. just not for me
Glendale was like a lot of what I call grey neighborhoods from back in NYC. Not messed up enough to run from/not nice enough to want to stay. A little seedy in spots.
I am digging East mesa. I like being 5 minutes from Tanto and Usery. We take a 10 minute ride over to pebble beach to read or sit in the river or ride the bike to canyon lake. Its getting developed fast though and we are already getting the second starbucks. They are pushing the meth heads out and prices are going up fast.
I dont need amenities across the street so my next and last move will probably be further away from humans.
