I think in the end .. physical borders are meaning very little.
When I was young you couldnt keep me in the house for longer than it took to do homework and run out the door. Right through highschool I was in and then OUT!
You hung out with people in your neighborhood, You mostly had similar values, sheech your homes were often decorated nearly the same. When you were bored you hung out on the stoop and friends would gather ... but ... we were never inside if we could help it and we were part of the smaller community.
Then came the internet .. first go around you had chat .. I was well into my 20's by then but it was wild and woolly and moderation was almost never.
Now .. as a young person and even some of the older ones .. you just arent hip or cool unless you are on one of the major social media sites. Twitter, Facebook, instagram etc.
Since it seems kids don't go out and play anymore their lives are wrapped up on these sites. Your "friend" is no longer the guy down the block or the girl next door with similar values.
Its somebody in Seattle with green hair its someone in NM cursing about Trumps never exhibited racism, its the rich socialite from NY who feels the black mans pain.
Helicopter parenting snatched away real social interaction and replaced it with this weird computer life. The SiMS has become real life or visa versa.
Your values and influences aren't your neighbors or your community anymore but its nationwide or global.... and its hard left.
Now the social media sites are not free speech. Your rights to free speech are only a guarantee that the GOVERNMENT wont infringe on that right but social media is privately owned.
They are through their moderation slanting the narrative completely to the left. anything that stinks of right wing values is moderated away.
Its so bad that the news is garnered from social media. Most of the news just parrots what the prevailing opinion is on social media .. and with good reason .. it sells.
Companies used to pay top dollar for demographic research .. now its free. Just read the posts and regurgitate.
I dont see anyway out of the nation going Blue short of something like an FCC for the internet and I am loathe to give anything over to Government control but in the end .. if your kids are all on board at the different large social media sites .. they are drinking the koolaid.
