Fair point. We either value capitalism or we do not, and the replacement value of what would be traded or sold must be accounted for.
This is why I (and probably many of you) don’t shoot as often today as I used to.

Just my opinion: People can ask whatever price or trade they feel like. If nobody thinks it's fair, then nobody will buy or trade.

If somebody offers $100 for 1000 rounds of 9mm, there may be one person who just inherited 1000 rounds of 9mm and does not own a 9mm gun, but who is desperate for $100 right this minute. Or not.

If somebody asks $1000 for 100 rounds of 9mm, there may be one person who is desperate for 9mm right this minute, and to whom $1000 is pocket change. Or not.

Either way, not my concern, so no reason to worry about it.

Right now I will sell my 1000 rounds of 9mm for $750 dollars if you come from Phoenix or Tucson

I’m not selling anything.

What I find funny is people selling are promoting capitalism, while those that didn’t plan are complaining about price gouging.

I was able to reload some 9mm JHP for pre-covid cost,...but factor in my labor,...and there you are, right back at current market prices.

But as one that has a substantial number of what you guys are looking for if you're not factoring in how much it would cost for me or someone else to replace what I've sold or traded, then you're wasting your time to be blunt honest.

Exactly. I told my dad the other day that I can't afford to shoot 9mm right now. Not because of the price I paid but for the price I would have to pay to replace what I would shoot. I stacked it deep for a reason, I'm not going to undermine my preps for a day at the range.

Keep enough in stock for 10 years or so.

I was talking to some people at the range yesterday and what I'm starting to see is people who customarily shot 100+ rounds per session only shooting 20 or 25 rounds per session, but still shooting weekly.

100%....I dont understand why guys just cant get that through their head and pass on by if they dont like the price. It will either sell or it wont and if its not yours why worry about it?

Some persons on this board feel it is their job to scold everyone who doesn't agree with their holier than thou opinions.

Does anyone haggle with a grocery store manager over the price of a can of peas? It's $0.89. Don't like the price? Move along.

So 9mm is the new 22 LR, eh?

I'm assuming it's because most of the Covid related gun purchases were 9mm, and the newbs need ammo?

could be.

I have had many people contact the gf asking if I would sell some 9mm, and I told her absolutely not...they need some they can start scouring for ammo like I would have to do if I sold mine

reload, reload, prep, prep, prep, stock deep, and then really stock deep

Exactly. I've been stocking up since Clinton was in office, doubled down on that when the Kenyan Kocksucker was in office, and haven't slowed up since. There are two kinds of people in the world, those that buy their popcorn before the movie starts, and those that don't

When buying anything a good deal is what everyone looks for.
What is a good deal ?
Many years ago an old horse trader told me

" a good deal is when both parties walk away thinking that they have screwed the other guy. "

I don't necessarily believe in the " screw the other guy " part , but as long as both parties are happy , the only opinions that count are the two that are involved in the transaction.

But the person you're responding to is using a false narrative and the odds are against him.

Now what I don't understand is needing 9 and trying to get over the other guy and thinking that it's okay being the one the comes out on top.

I have 9, and I have 223. I don't need either because I am set. I can afford to wait out scalpers that are desperate. Can you?

Anyhow, nothing wrong with my post trying to elucidate the one sidedness and there are people here in agreement using very well founded arguments supporting what I had said.
Seeing as how this post came shortly after my ad looking to trade I assume it is directed toward me. I am younger than many here im sure, wasnt old enough to buy and stock up during or immediately following Clinton or Bush. I started around the Obama era of stacking heavily and got into reloading even.
With that said, I stopped reloading shortly thereafter as ammo prices made more sense to buy than reload, but I kept my equipment for a rainy day. Back then I thought having enough to reload 5k of each caliber was good. Since then, I have wised up and built my factory stash to much larger than that. I only recently got back into 9mm, and even though my range trips cost me 400-600 rds of 9mm and 200-400 223, I am set for many years. I have found myself to be shooting much more 9 than 223 and have 3 times the 223 than I do 9mm. I was rather upset with sportsman's guide as they canceled my 8k order of 9mm which I placed at the start of this. It went from in stock to backorder to further backorder to we don't know when its coming so we are canceling on you. Yet, I'm still good with my stash.
So in response to the above quoted post, yes I can wait it out,and haven't slowed my shooting. However if someone is in NEED of 223 and has a plethora of 9mm, maybe we can strike a deal. If not, no sweat off my back.
When prices come back to normal or slightly above normal like they always do, I will sleep good at night knowing "I didnt get one over the other guy" on a 2 for 1 trade. That is partially why I feel a 1 for 1 trade at this point is closer to "getting one over on the other guy." History always repeats itself.
