LOL....

Silly gamers. Waste your life on something, well, else. Like a paper route. Mowing lawns in the neighborhood for cash, picking up bottles for candy money. Useful shit...

Ha, I donate plasma!
No exertion needed, then I can come home, snuggle into my gaming chain, and have mom bring me my pizza rolls and diet Mt Dew.

Rant on...

I have co-workers who constantly bitch about how much they make, how tight money is in their house, etc. Then, in the next breath tell me how they just bought the new hot FPS game, and are so tired because the stayed up half the night playing it.
WTF?
So, your job performance sucks because you're a gaming slacker, you spent your "allowance" on a game, can hardly afford ramen because you had to have the newest console, borrow money to make rent, and bitch that the management sucks and you should be CEO....

Oh, BTW...just got my weed card brah...LOL LOL....

Yeah, cool..rant off. Guess I don't get it. And, I'm in the generation that should..

It’s like anything else in life, everything in moderation.
Hell, I’ve been retired 13 years, it’s just another past time like hunting, shooting, running around in the desert, kayaking, whatever.
Yeah, there are a lot of idiots out there that let it consume them, just another type of addiction.

I would say it's mostly "kids", but these clowns are in their late 30s and early 40s. I didn't grow up playing video games. Wasn't my thing. Dirtbikes, slingshots, building forts... Now that I'm older (42  ) I get it even less. I work a full time job, which I make a decent salary at, then come home and bust out side work. Sometimes in excess of my monthly salary... You want it, work for it!!

And, I still find time to BS on forums like this.

Sorry to rant. Guess I should start my own bitch thread..lol

I still like Atari River Raid from the late 70s or early 80s I think. Classics.

The last games I played was donkey Kong and zelda. I found out once you won it just started over and that's it. What a let down. 1988 I think.

Although I did play some virtual reality tank driving game my daughter got the other day. It was pretty cool but not my thing. There was also this horror movie theme escape room game I tried but I kept falling over dodging the knife, lol.

I'll stick to reality.

I agree if you are a younger dude. Funny but I only picked up Video games in any real way about 2years ago. When I was working I didnt have any extra time. I went years without a vacation and often worked well into the nights and many a saturday and sunday so I came home ate something had a couple shots of whiskey and went to bed. Your right .. trying to be a somebody takes time and effort!

I already reached for the brass rings, already raised to strong successful girls and will not go play bingo at the retirement center hall!!

I have a 12 yr old PC that I had built for doing 3d modeling and floor plans as part of my work life needs. When I stopped doing that I still had this somewhat beast of a PC so I figured I would turn it into a gaming system. So .. I didn't have to buy a playstation or X box. At the time I bought a tower because I didn't need it to travel and with a tower I can repair or upgrade pretty easily.

Its a bit long in the tooth but I have changed out the graphics card a couple of times, its liquid cooled and I had to replace that, Changed out the hard drives a couple of times, added ram and recently overclocked to squeeze out a little more performance and I can run just about all the newer games but I only buy games under $20 and most I get on sale for $10

I don't do the online thing because .. well this is about the only social interaction I do for the most part and its more than enough. I have become a dated relic and have not learned all the new Politically correct stuff so am usually unwelcome in any group that has people under 50/60. Even starting to feel like I have aged out here.

I dont think I take up any more time playing than most people do watching movies on netflix. The difference is .. I swear many of the games have better writing and I often get better "oh sh*t no way" surprises in games than I do in top tier movies. " I cant believe what that B*tch just did"

The best part is instead of just sitting in the corner of the couch watching a movie you get to participate in some small way. Instead of just watching the guys kill one another I get to kill them myself. In some games like fallout .. your decisions and dialog choices change the outcome of the "movie" I enjoy them but not to the exclusion of everything else. You may have heard I make leather things from time to time.

Its just another way to use some free time. We maybe watch one movie a week now and every other time I ask the wife after dinner and a walk .. what do you want to do .. she says lets play fallout! Or what ever the game is.

You are right ... trust me from a guy that misses his work like no ones business .. if you are still in the living life game .. commit yourself to it like your a bull breaking through a brick wall. You get one shot and when its gone its gone and .. you WILL miss the sport of life when it slows down.

I heard so many people when I was younger say .. " i wish I had more time off" Take it from me .. you will get lots of time off .. and it sucks!

The worst thing for any go getter is not having anything to get.

but .. when and if you find yourself watching 5-6 movies a week on TV .. then try a few cheap games and see if you dont prefer them. 10 hours of one or 10 hours of the other ... I like the games!!

What I dont get is the really young guys. The ones still in school. Man you couldnt keep me in the house!

I didnt get to just "play" before ... Now I can play a little. Still rather be chasing brass rings though!

Hate to break this to you but paper routes don't exist anymore, mowing the lawn has been taken over by mexicans, and who drinks from a glass bottle anymore? Not to mention if your kid tries to have a lemonade stand, someone will call the police and the gestapo will shut it down. When I was growing up in the 90s I tried collecting cans and didn't get shit for them. I work 10 hours a day 6 days a week. If I want to crack open a beer and play Halo for an hour or so that's my decision. Old people just hate videogames because they don't understand them.

Then again I could just be a "normal" guy and worship wife beating racists who disrespect our country because they can throw a ball really far.

My success in life through a couple industries (Building custom cars / hot-rods) and working in the IT field are directly related to playing video games. If it wasn't for the Commodore 64 I had in the early 80s as a child (which I still have....) I would not be nowhere near as successful as I have been as the skills I learned that accompanied my gaming hobby throughout the years set me on a pretty interested life path that I am very fortunate for.

For every 1 person that fits your "stereotype" there are 10 people where an interest in gaming lead to other skills that allowed them to be successful.

(I edited my original novel down to this for the sake of those who don't like to read....lol)

My boy grew up playing video games with me back in the 80s, once he moved out I pretty much lost interest.

About 5 years ago he brought me an XBox 360 which got me interested in games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion.
About 2 years ago he got me an XBox One, which I used for stuff like Fallout 4 and Skyrim as well as a bunch of other games, last year I moved over to PC.

I like the PC a lot more, not just for the available mods, but the speed and ability to download a game without needing to worry if my console would be up to date enough.
It’s really been a rabbit hole, now I design my own characters and followers, and can tweak it all to my personal preferences.

It’s about time to build myself another gaming specific PC, I have a business one, and a laptop I built for gaming, but it’s really time to upgrade, especially with the newer games and their requirements.

Seems like a few of you may have missed my sarcasm about the paper route and such.

Carry on....

Nah, one post is maybe sarcasm - three posts complaining about your stereotype of "gamers" and how you don't get it is obvious. You sound like the "rock and roll is evil" people.....

You don't get the allure of gaming, thats fine. But don't clump all gamers into one stereotype based on your somewhat narrow experience.

Lol.

I mean really, what kind of man would be opposed to playing a with a in game follower like Angel.
Yeah, this is not your old Commodore games!

With the right programs you can add freckles, scars, tattoos, change eye and skin colors/ textures.
Body slide and race menu increases or lessen bust/body/leg/hip whatever size, the options are unlimited.

I suggest if you really want to get into it, you add an ENB for colors and shading, first two and last pics are using an ENB that sharpens and defines skin textures, shading, and color fade/shadowing, like I said, it’s a rabbit hole!

Eventually I hope to create a stand alone follower with independent AI and custom voiced, it’s a tough program to get right without bugs, but hey, I’m retired, I’m working it!

Lol.

I am patiently waiting for the new AMD processors and Nvidia 3080\3090 cards to hit the gaming laptop OEMs. I will then sell my current gaming laptop, which has done a valiant job for the last couple or so years of running everything I throw at it fairly well (8th gen I7, 32GB ram, SSD, Nvidia 1060 super) but I want to make the jump to 4K and will need a bit more horsepower.

Yup, I’m looking forward to the Ryzen 9 5900X once it’s more available.
And of course it’s been beta tested by all those that couldn’t wait.

Liquid cooled, here I come !

ETA..
One thing interesting, anyone ever notice Bethesda games were unable to make a perfect circle?
I mean really, even boobs are a tight series of angles.
Any real circle is from an aftermarket mod.
Just one of the “coding” shortcuts you really don’t notice till you try to create using their templates.
