My success in life through a couple industries (Building custom cars / hot-rods) and working in the IT field are directly related to playing video games. If it wasn't for the Commodore 64 I had in the early 80s as a child (which I still have....) I would not be nowhere near as successful as I have been as the skills I learned that accompanied my gaming hobby throughout the years set me on a pretty interested life path that I am very fortunate for.

For every 1 person that fits your "stereotype" there are 10 people where an interest in gaming lead to other skills that allowed them to be successful.

(I edited my original novel down to this for the sake of those who don't like to read....lol)

It's annoying that you have to waste time trying to explain this to a frustrated boomer who just can't let anyone enjoy anything that is outside what they enjoy.

Most of the games I tend to play are strategy and cRPGs which is great for tactics and analyzing real time info.

There is a man child demographic dudes he is referring to but I don't see that in our community. People are too busy doing other shit to worry.

What's that Sun Tzu qoute "If you know yourself and your enemy you need not fear the outcome of a hundred battles."

I mean really, what kind of man would be opposed to playing a with a in game follower like Angel.
Yeah, this is not your old Commodore games!

Pssshh, you whippersnappers and your colors and fancy graphics. Look at the pixels on this one :

Lol.

I am patiently waiting for the new AMD processors and Nvidia 3080\3090 cards to hit the gaming laptop OEMs. I will then sell my current gaming laptop, which has done a valiant job for the last couple or so years of running everything I throw at it fairly well (8th gen I7, 32GB ram, SSD, Nvidia 1060 super) but I want to make the jump to 4K and will need a bit more horsepower.

Ha! I run a Lenovo Legion 5 and it seems to do what i need it to do for the most part. I was planning on it carrying me through college for the next few years. We'll see.

Hey I was there for the birth of pong! Um and it was fun!

I would say it's mostly "kids", but these clowns are in their late 30s and early 40s. I didn't grow up playing video games. Wasn't my thing. Dirtbikes, slingshots, building forts... Now that I'm older (42  ) I get it even less. I work a full time job, which I make a decent salary at, then come home and bust out side work. Sometimes in excess of my monthly salary... You want it, work for it!!

And, I still find time to BS on forums like this.

Sorry to rant. Guess I should start my own b**** thread..lol

Maybe try a career change if late 30's early 40's co-workers are bitching about a $60 game. Do you work at Walmart or something? Not trying to be insulting I just don't hear the same (ANY) bitching from my colleagues of roughly the same age that play video games. We actually discuss games.

I grew up playing video games. Also grew up in the desert and did the same stuff you did, minus the slingshot thingy, I was more into pellet guns personally. I played a ton of sports growing up and was almost nearly a starter for every team I played on. Still found time for video games after sports and school...

I'm 35, make six figures, and still try to play video games after I put the kiddo down for bed occasionally. Or sometimes I'll fire her up a game that she can play.

Also at age 35, I can stay up till midnight if I wanted to and it would have no effect on my performance the next day. #Adulting hahaha

Pick up a challenging game like Bloodborne...It makes you think, makes you have a strategy going into fights and it's brutally fun. More fun/entertainment than TV as it keeps me engaged. Also more fun than being on a gun forum with over 1200 posts. :icon-wink:

Anyways....hows the game been guys? I'm not going to pick it up until I want a PS5 after hearing about the PS4/XBONE issues. I can't believe they released a game with that many bugs on the old gen platform.

I’m the parts and service manager for a manufacturing company that builds equipment for airfield maintenance, and ultra high pressure water blasting (40k psi). Government contracts, blah blah..

Prior to that I was an auto tech with Honda/Acura for about 12 years. You don’t work hard, you don’t get paid much. So, I’ve had a career change.

..edited..never mind.

Carry on.

Game runs fine on my laptop, I’ve heard of nothing but problems on consoles though.
If you have a relatively new computer or one with upgrades it shouldn’t be an issue.

As to the game it’s self I like it, the main quest isn’t all that long, but just like any open world game, it’s the side quest and exploring that fill it out.

I know they released a patch, the 1.05 hot fix that was supposed to clean up a lot of the problems, mostly for console gamers.
Most issues are with the consoles regardless of which you use, even the newest XBox and Playstations are not immune.
XBox1 and PS4 are the hardest hit with fps and low resolution, not sure if the patches fixed the issues though.

One of the biggest issues I’ve heard about is corrupted saves, which can be an issue with any game, PC or console.
A couple of ways to mitigate it is to never use quick save, and limit the amount of saves you have stored.

I just wish CDPR bothered to actually make a damned driving system instead of taking the already bad horse physics of Witcher 3 and slapping car models on them.

Ha, like I said in an earlier post, I suck at driving, might not be bad in first person, but in third person view with the camera roaming it really is a PITA.

Honestly, to me it doesn’t live up to the hype.
It’s a good game but the continuity, story line, and above all immersion is lacking.
Yeah, graphics are outstanding, but once you get past that it’s sort of lame, like I said before the main story is short, and to me meh.

Heck, I’m already back to Skyrim SE, at least there you can download mods that will change your game into something different enough to warrant another play through.

I give Cyberpunk at least 2 years to see some of the mods that will make it better show up.

At this point it’s all about patches, updates, and very few real improvements, it’s starting to get there, but it’ll be a while.
Just starting to see game altering mods and new looks for NPCs, a month ago it was pretty bleak.

For those trying to mod it, here’s what Nexus is hosting...

Yeah, I may be a shooter, but I’m also a dweeb (not a weeb, had a waifu for laifu for almost 40 years) she tolerates my obsession.

I would have to agree. I am not that into it and found the main storyline kind of "meh". I like shadowrun better but thats me.
