It started as a noise complaint. It ended in another fatal Phoenix police shooting

I heard "Phoenix police" very clearly and saw him reach behind his back for the gun. I didn't hear him say a word about putting the gun on the ground. If he would have kept his hands up i bet money he would still be alive. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

You might want to watch the video again. He didn't reach behind his back for a gun, he had it in his right hand. He started to drop to his knees, left hand in the air. the pistol was never pointed towards the officers or even in front of him. He appears to be dropping to his knees and setting the pistol down.
The body cam on the officer that shot, clearly shows the pistol was never raised or pointed.

Come to my door unexpected and banging on it, I don't care what you're shouting, you are likely to get the same or a worse reception, but I wouldn't step out in the open, until I saw ID.

Well we'll just have to agree to disagree then, because from most of us that watched it saw that he complied and was gunned down.

Note: I am a big backer of the blue, but not when they gun someone down, especially in the back when you can clearly see that he was giving up without a fight.

I would love to support police more but I can't support people who hide behind each other when they f*** up. I started off as a big supporter but what I have seen them do over the years has me as avoid them at all costs. I would still help a officer if I saw one getting his or her ass handed to them and would shoot someone to defend one but some days I question if this is even worth it anymore.

As much as I would like to think there would be retribution for this cold blooded murder, there won't be or at the very least I'll be pleasantly surprised. If Mesa PD can shoot someone point blank in the back of the head with the guy on the ground with an AR with a dust cover with "you're f***ed" engraved on it and get off scott free, so will these murderers because he had a scary evil gun in his hand.

If "police" show up at my I move everyone into the most reinforced place in my home that I can.

The oldest and most competent person calls 911 and confirms that they are supposed to be there. If they are. I will secure my firearm, announce I am coming out in unarmed and my security and that person calling 911 will be recording.

If they aren't well it's time to do what you need to do.

Because people for far too long have been posing as cops and doing armed home invasions you can't take the risk. They can wait a minute or two to make sure I too, get to "make it back home alive"™.

There is not point at which the guy didn't comply and at no point did he point his pistol in the direction of either cop. When he was told drop the gun, his left hand went up into the air and he started to drop to his knees. Unless the guy was Doc Holiday or Billy the Kid planning on doing some trick shooting, he is not getting into a shooting position, pistol pointing down, weak hand raised in the air, and moving to a kneeling or crouched position.

I don't know and don't shoot with anyone that is likely to just "drop their weapon", unless it was a Hi Point, they would put it down or lay it down.

On a side note you previously said if he would have kept his hands up, what would you say the outcome would have been had he started to raise his strong hand with the pistol in it? If he hid the gun behind his back, it was clearly visible to the officer behind him and the direction it was pointed was also clearly visible when that officer fired.

If they did this on a simulator they would fail.

I find it kind of odd that AZ pd would be so alarmed at the sight of a gun. I know .. "Got to go home safe" or whatever the excuse is for being quick on the trigger but .. I can kind of see being nervous at the sight of a gun in locals where they are prohibited. If your a cop in NYC or Chicago Or LA where they unlawfully outlawed ownership. Then its an oddity when you see one and may cause alarm but ARIZONA!?

Ryan Whitaker made some mistakes, but none of them should have cost him his life. And I'm sure the two Phoenix PD officers wish like hell they hadn't taken a life that night.
