just curious, my uncle who is a trucker is making his way through AZ and has to take a mandatory rest period. Figured we go shooting, haven't seen him in years.

Only campgrounds and 'developed' recreation areas are closed. The rest of Tonto is open.
Since the QV shooting area is not a campground or a developed area it should be open, just practice social distancing.

I hope you're right, baja. One of my friends said he tried to go to QV last weekend, and was turned away. I have a new toy I'd like to blast but homie don't play Rio.

It could be they're practicing social distancing. If so, just go to a less crowded area.

Another link to Tonto National Forest explains it.

In Qeen Valley Sunday it was packed. As many or more people as I've ever seen out there.
Went to my SuperSecretSpot and no one but us heh, heh, heh.

I can’t remember, roughly what time of year do they typically lift the restrictions? I realize it entirely weather dependent, I’m just looking for an average I guess.

Usually sometime close to or after Labor Day. If fires keep popping up, don’t expect anything to open for a while.
