I got into the habit of when holstering, shifting my thumb to the slide, which then automatically takes pressure off the grip safety... which is probably what you were talking about 444.

I guess I wasn't very clear,... I set the barrel in the holster and then shift my palm, so that it contacts the heel of the high point of the grip frame, by the mag well. Another way I have used, is to place my thumb on the hammer and then push on it to re-holster, which is just another way to totally remove my palm from the grip safety, as well.

I think, once one programs yourself to rely on NOT touching the grip safety upon re-holstering, it stays with you and it really doesn't matter how you do it. It just comes to my mind,... DON'T TOUCH THE GRIP SAFETY,... automatically, every time I re-holster, that's all that matters to me!

I have seen some ND photo's, that produced some nasty holes, in places I would rather not have holes,... so, remembering DON'T TOUCH MY GRIP SAFETY, really has become second nature.

And, on a further note,... I think trigger bar safeties, or whatever they are called, are a dangerous sham!! I think,... anyone who can buy the idea that one could get something inside the trigger guard, that will safely contact only the outer edges of the trigger, without engaging that TRIGGER BAR SAFETY,... operates in a world I am not familiar with. I went with S&W M&P's because of that sales pitch! I strongly feel, one can get a false sense of security with weapons that only have a TRIGGER BAR SAFETY and is promoted as ,good enough.

I can accept SA XD models with a trigger bar safety AND a grip safety,... and, I can accept, EVEN MORE, SA's Tactical models with trigger safety, grip safety AND thumb safety. I believe, that the countless times we re-holster our weapons, over the decades, there can not be too many safeties.

I know, I know,... many claim SAFETY FAILURE can be a nightmare, in a self defense situation,... and, who can argue with that! But, I have re-holstered my weapons a whole hell of a lot more times than I have ever had a safety prevent a discharge. In fact, I have never had a safety prevent a discharge in my entire life, and I have owned and shot enough S&W's, with the infamous "BAD KEY SAFETY", for more decades than I want to count!!!
