I know nothing about these. Does the scope hurt the value?

I think the question is, if it was drilled into receiver to attach the scope mount like a M1C or M1D, or it's something else. If the factory spec scope mounting, it might not matter.

Compared to other milsurps CMP Garands are not usually totally original anyway. It's different than other milsurps.
 
Looks like an S&K mount, which attaches to the rear sight base. Not known to be the most solid of mounts. And with that big and heavy an optic on it, I wouldn't expect it to stay put.

I much prefer the Scout Scope type of mount made by Amega Ranges (now called AmegaMounts). It limits you to pistol eye relief types of scopes, which are usually only 2x-6x, but doesn't interfere with the clip loading or ejection.

Drilling holes yes.
Scope no.

I think that is a simple "clamp on" scope base that mounts to the rear sight base. But, if the rear sight is missing that obviously hurts the value by $100 or so.
