Well here you go, this is my curiousity getting the best of me.
How often do you shoot, practice, what ever you call it.

And paper punching
concealment draw practice.
long gun practice
what distance do you base your skill on
and lastly
HOW MUCH AMMO do you use to practice, 20, 30, 50. 100 rounds an outing.
or are you a once a year shooter, who needs to have a closet full of goods for ''that day''

oughta be fun hearing some of the answers and reasons for who, what, when and how

happy sunday, stay well, and most of all, stay safe

Depends on what I'm shooting when we have a Class III shoot easily shoot 3000-4000 rounds. Paper punching 100-150 rounds, long gun practice 100-200 rounds.I shoot all year round except the winter months when its cold in Prescott.

Definitely not near enough, as i'm sure most would answer. I go half a dozen times a year to the range with a couple desert trips mixed in. I usually take 200-300 rounds per caliber and feel that's enough for me to stay "ready" should the need arise. But like I said not near enough, can't afford to shoot 10,000 rounds a year for every weapon I have.

I shoot twice a week. I shoot Sporting Clays once a week, shoot around 100 rounds at it and I'm alone, and shoot handguns and/or rifles once a week. Mrs. Flash shoots too so perhaps 200 rounds a week. This one we shoot with a group. 17 people in the group, we usually get around 8 to 10 show up at any given week.

I shoot 1 or 2 times a week indoors, 100 or so rounds. Outdoors with gongs once a week, around 200 rounds. I like to hear the dink in the quiet mountains.

Dry practice to live fire is 3:1. But live rounds about 250-300 from holster/concealment at least 1x a month. Not nearly as much long Gun practice as I should but at least one training class on long Gun per year.

NOT ENOUGH!! Once a week I spray the weeds with a trigger activated sprayer to simulate firing my Glock; one to the leaves, one to the stem. Never do any of the drills and classes I hear about because they sound like a lot of work. I don't even hone my skills on Call of Duty, that's how sad I am. I did watch a 8 minute Youtube video on how to unload my new HiPoint so I got that going for me. I'm just going to shoot myself if ever confronted and save everyone the trouble.

:D Seriously,
I use to shoot more when I worked to relieve "stress" but since I retired those people are no longer part of my life. Now (pre-lockdown) it's mostly 22lr target shooting with rifles and pistols a few times a week with some real guns thrown in just to show everyone at the range I have big boy guns.

NOT NEARLY enough. Seems I only get out a few times a year. When I do, it is several hundred rounds an outing though.

I really need to make sure I get out more often. March/April resolution??? LOL

Used to be twice a week for me, but now I'm down to once every other week. About 250 through my 1911 every time (I'm approaching 40K on that one), and then around 150-200 through whichever rifle I brought (I only have 2). I used to have a .45-70 lever that I sold to another member here because I loved it, but could put a total of 4 rounds an outing through it before crying. And it sat for over a year.

I keep retiring, immediately getting bored, and finding work. Gotta stop doing that.

Before my wife passed, I'd shoot around 250 rounds (mostly pistol) every 3 weeks. Now I'm lucky to go every 6 months. Totally rusty.

I usually go out once a week, with one or more of the neighbors here, to shoot handguns near where I live. The exception to that is the range trips drop off dramatically in the summer. I do go to an indoor range on occasion during the summer but very rarely.

If I'm shooting defensive handguns, such as 9mm, 45ACP, etc I usually go through a couple of hundred rounds per range trip. If, however, I'm shooting my big bore magnum revolvers usually 50-60 rounds is all I can take at one session. My hands and wrists just can't take anymore these days.

I mostly shoot steel except when sighting in on paper. Also, one of the neighbors is a former LEO firearms instructor and he sometimes cajoles us into running some drills. The only problem with our close by range is that its only good for handguns distances so we usually shoot at 20/25 yards. To get to a place for long guns is a fair distance from here so I don't go near often enough. I really need to find someplace closer so I can get the rifles out more often.

Before the quarantine about 20 times a year. 50 rounds .22 LR and 150 center-fire handgun with 50 of that from my carry gun(s). Long guns 4 or 5 times a year about 100 rounds. Mostly indoor in the summer (yeah I'm a wimp).

Fortunate to be able to shoot 5 matches a month at the local club. So about 500 center fire pistol and one match is rimfire so 300 of that. Plus some shotgun and carbine at out 3 gun match. Love being here in AZ so I can shoot all year round.

After rereading the OP's original question again. This sounds like a Fed doing a interagation. I mean really. Would you like to know how many times I shake it too. :teasing-tease:

I tried to get out to the range a couple of times a month to make my membership worth while. Shooting paper with both handguns and rifles. The amount varies at to the time I spend out there.
Although after my shot purchase from Ric I will be cleaning out some of the blue rocks in my garage.

I guess your a newbie in the gun forums? Very rare do people not know who and what RJ does? Definitely not a fed but I think he did stay at a holiday inn last night........just saying.

:text-thankyouyellow: That's all fine and dandy. But that's what it sounds like. Just saying

My goal is to shoot once per month - at least. I do not always achieve that goal, sadly. I have the most discretionary time during the summer and so I brave the heat and head down to the range at CG when it is crazy hot. The bonus is that I often have the range to myself when it is 110, but that presents some problems as well with regard to safety and security.

When I shoot I usually am good for 300 to 500 rounds of various calibers and platforms. Sometimes more, sometimes less. I have great steel targets for both long guns and handguns and I like to start with the rifles at distance and work my way back to the short distance with handguns.

Lately, I've spent most of my range time working with my daughters and being involved with just about everything except shooting. I have a blast helping them. My youngest is 9 and she can burn up the 22 ammo box if left to her own.
