Talk to me about firearm coverage and home insurance? I have had a separate rider for my guns and ammo over the years and insurance this year just jumped up 3k! I have my broker shopping rates, but so far the max limit is 10k in firearms. What insurance provider do you have and how much do you pay? How much coverage do they offer for your guns?

Make sure you insure as collection that you don't shoot just collect.

May I ask why? Is it cheaper?

I think he is referring to your,...ahem,...PADDED gun collection. (wink wink)

Does that include a rider for boating coverage? My rates are gonna go way up

I've used Easter insurance for years. I can't say they are great because I haven't had a claim, but they have a policy that is much cheaper than the NRA or AFRCOM sponsored and advertised policies.

They've added riders for reloading equipment and ammo, if you store enough or have an expensive reloading setup.

Standard policy is up to $40K unscheduled but no 1 item over, I think $5K, might be $10K, unless it's scheduled. You can add to the $40K limit if you have a large collection. Nothing has to be wall hangers or safe queens, they can all be shooters.

This is in addition to the typical $3-$5K in an average homeowner policy.

Thank you for the lead! Their standard 40k policy is only $150 a year! Seems way cheaper than going thru home insurance policies! .35 cents per $1000 insured per year is a bargain I feel.

I don't follow your math. $40,000 coverage for $150 is $3.75 per $1000 of coverage.
Which still seems like a good deal.

The last three home carriers I had would not go over $5k without scheduling everything and in one case submitting pictures. If they allowed me pictures and schedule as evidence of possession and I only had to submit them if I had a loss, I'd be OK with that but that was a no-go.

$40K unscheduled with some evidence of possession works for me. I have a spreadsheet and pictures but not for public consumption.

Ya that's been my issue but I did find safeco would cover 50k guns and ammo without upfront evidence. They raised their rates tho🫥

Sorry I just re-read it. It's .35/$100. 40k at $150 is the minimum baseline.
