Despite having a C&R FFL and having successfully passed NICS twice since September, I was delayed when picking up a transfer on Saturday.

Now the fun part of waiting for this problem to fix itself.

I was in Merchant Arms on Friday, things were moving along very slowly and they mentioned everyone was coming back from the background check with a wait response.

Where were you on Jan 6th? Lol

Lol whoa! Get a CCW!

Why anyone that buys at least one firearm a year doesn't have a CCW/CWP for the very reason of not having to go through this hassle is beyond me..

I’ve been having at least 3/4 of my customers delayed.
It has a lot to do with the number of firearms being purchased and of course their excuse for everything, the Chinaflu.

Used to be if there was an issue with a name they’d transfer me to a secondary line where they’d do a little more thorough check, now that they’re short handed or swamped, they just automatically delay a person so they can be checked when they get time.

Pretty pathetic, but typical of the government.

Is the three day rule still valid? No response in 3 days and the ffl can release?

Yes. Although it's 3 business days I think.

Also lots of big chains refuse to follow that. Fortunately my ffl is a one man shop and said he would release it after that time without a clear.

Yup, 3 working days.
Since your 4473 was submitted on Saturday, you should be able to pick it up on Thursday.

I've been working at Cabela's gun counter since the 1st of the year. Because of some issues they have had previously...they now will not transfer a firearm unless/until they receive a definite "Proceed" from NICS. Just refunded a customer the other day, because he was on "Delay" for 30 days, at which point the background check expired, he resubmitted his background check again, after another 30 days without any answer, it also expired. Can't blame him for giving up. I imagine he went straight to a smaller shop, bought something, went on delay for 3 days, and then got his firearm.

For any who haven't been recently...Cabela's shelves are bare. Almost no ammo of any kind, no pistol ammo, 2 or 3 boxes of SG, and about 15 boxes of less-popular rifle ammo. About half of which is .50 BMG. You could fit all of our handguns in one display case...and have room left over. The proposed legislation, and the Colorado shooting...has only made a bad situation that much worse.

CCW vs. govt roadmap to gun owners, now tell us about your boating accident Mr. Jones! Buy private while you can.

Well this could explain a few things. Whew ... Ammo is going to be scarce for a while and I think NICS will continue to be overwhelmed

What is a delay? *asks in CCW

Only delays I see are seller shipping, and FFL letting me know it's arrived (even thought my tracking said that had it two days ago... .)

8-)
