Most likely. That's not the first time that mountain has been set afire. The previous fire was caused by a shooter.

With all their complaining and bitching about how they don't want a brush fire, they never even attempted to remove or remediate the brush around the range...seems like a simple solution to the problem.

I never understood how people managed to shoot over the berm until I was lucky enough to be at a table next to a group shooting an AR at 100 yards with only a front sight. That place is flat out scary in January with all of the new people out there with their new Christmas guns. I can't imagine what it's like now.

Nothing has made much sense out there since AZGF took it over, but they got a nice shiny building.

It doesn't take much. I saw a fire started at an indoor range a year or so ago.

They should of let the entire North face of that hill burn all the way down. That's what the Big Sandy crew would do. They would stop it from going over the hill, but let the North face burn down. Infact after a rainy winter, they would tell us where to shoot tracers to make sure it got all burned down. Usually after one shoot, there would be nothing left to burn 20yds from the top all of the way down. The Fall shoot would have no fire stoppages.

Not likely to be a tracer, the RSOs would put a stop to that pretty quick.

I have seen few tracers over the years that snuck into a mag or was forgotten about in a old loaded magazine. Your right, the RSO were on them like ants on a candy bar. One guy had to empty every mag by hand to make sure there were no more "ooops" loaded in with regular rounds. I could see it happening, I have several bug out mags that have round #6 from the bottom as a tracer to let you know that you have 5 rounds left in the mag. I keep all of those tagged and bundled together... Helps keep the "ooops" down and egg off your face.

Was out there today, got a good look at the burn area. There are a lot of cactus on that mountain, I assume they would have to move them before they could do a prescribed burn. I spoke with some of the staff, they are considering it.
