Im not a lawyer nor did I sleep at Holiday Inn but this sounds like the end of Red Flag Laws, or will they just print a pocket full of blank warrants?

Then again maybe not “They typically specify the standard that must be met and the procedures that must be followed before firearms may be seized,” he continued. “Provisions of red flag laws may be challenged under the Fourth Amendment, and those cases may come before us. Our decision today does not address those issues.”

You got it in the second paragraph. Sadly, not the end of Red Flag laws at all. In this case, the police did not go in under a Red Flag law, but on the principle of "It seemed like a good idea." It would have been a shocker if it had not been 9-0, even with the liberal justices.
When an actual Red Flag law comes along, the court will have to decide whether the "process" of that particular Red Flag law is "due" enough.

You guys need to read the decision. This was a very narrow case where the cops lied to the wife saying the husband gave consent to search. This was stupid cause the wife could have consented and they know it, probably that she wouldnt.

This is only a victory of slapping down poor police ethics and lower courts who should have easily done the same instantly.

It's a reminder of limits on police powers searches but does nothing to address red flag laws and a concurring opinion specifically says so.

you take the pluses when you can, not all are great, but better than the ''negative'' even if if should never be.

Gotta agree with above mentioned. 9-0. That doesn't seem to happen in one's lifetime.

I agree with the sentiment, especially for a firearms-related case. But unanimous SC rulings are extremely common. The contentious 5-4 rulings get all the press but there are many unanimous rulings every term.
