Had the pleasure of meeting a vet from the invasions first wave. He was incredibly open and willing to talk about it with me. Incredible

I may have posted this before on here...if so, I apologize for repeating myself.

My Father landed on Utah beach on D-Day, the day after his 20th birthday...which he spent on board a ship, waiting for the invasion.

He was not an infantryman...he was a Motor Messenger, driving a Jeep. Anyway...I believe he landed in the mid-morning. He had lots of great stories about his time in England, France, Belgium (he was in Bastogne just as the Battle of the Bulge began), and Germany. I wish I had recorded his stories.

After the war ended in Europe, he went home on furlough...and was likely destined to participate in the Invasion of Japan. Fortunately for him (and me), that never happened.

He passed away in 2008.
