If their has iPhone they will be alerted to AirTag.
Hide it real well.

Also, these low life thieves could have already intercepted the signal from your keyless transmitter in a parking lot when you're walking away from your truck and then followed you home to get your address. Then they return late at night and within a couple of hours the truck is in Mexico. Kind of difficult to defeat these assholes.

Correct.
Apple was concerned that people were using AirTags to stalk people by hiding them on the victims vehicles, purses, etc.
To combat this, your iOS device will alert you if there has been an air tag around you for a length of time that is not registered to your account.

It’s my understanding the signal “cycles” so you need to have the “live data” per MY owners manual
maybe not all cars have this.
I keep all keys in the microwave until some a**hole came to visit and used the microwave.
Now the cord is cut to said microwave.
Some vehicles have a way of turning off the fob signal. Like anyone does that.
Be safe out there!

Do you have to download some kind of app for this or is it already on the iPhone.
My company phone is an IPhone and it has never alerted me , and several of the workers have air tags on their equipment . I am around them all the time and have never been alerted.
