If any of you are rolling in a similar white camaro, stay ready to experience a real felony-stop. Damn!

Pretty scary! Thank you posting. I'm in a few Jeep clubs and there have been a lot of Jeeps stolen lately. I've been thinking of getting an Apple Air Tag for this reason. Also why my Jeep stays in the garage.

If their has iPhone they will be alerted to AirTag.

Hide it real well.

Only one thing to do now: F.O.R.D. System.
Found
On
Right of way
Dead

I’ll be in the garage.

I don't have an iPhone, but are you saying anyone with an iPhone will be alerted if there is an Apple Air Tag near by?

So would a Faraday bag really keep someone from reading your keyless transmitter?

Also, these low life thieves could have already intercepted the signal from your keyless transmitter in a parking lot when you're walking away from your truck and then followed you home to get your address. Then they return late at night and within a couple of hours the truck is in Mexico. Kind of difficult to defeat these assholes.

Yes.

Correct.

Apple was concerned that people were using AirTags to stalk people by hiding them on the victims vehicles, purses, etc.

To combat this, your iOS device will alert you if there has been an air tag around you for a length of time that is not registered to your account.

By the way, some of you may recognize the truck owner in the video. He's a CCW instructor with Desert Ridge Defense, LLC. who runs classes advertised on USCCA's website.

These thieves likely had no idea they were targeting a weapons dude for his truck,...and they seemed to not care, either.

Diesel truck theft is nothing new for us here in Arizona or the entire southwest for that matter. The cartels steal them for use in making runs across the open desert. They try to target trucks that won't be missed for hours so that they can have them down across the border and already thrashing them through the desert before the victim knows they're gone. It happened to a friend of mine about 6 years ago with his 4x4 2007 Dodge Cummins. But there has been a lot of progress counter-targeting the thieves with bait trucks in recent years left in public parking lots. So now it seems this one crew at least is adapting by going into residential driveways.

The best defense you have is to install a secret kill switch separate from the ignition. I have one on my 2005 Duramax. Unless I engage the hidden kill switch, turning the ignition does nothing. And of course, no radio signal key fob to hack.

It’s my understanding the signal “cycles” so you need to have the “live data” per MY owners manual

maybe not all cars have this.

I keep all keys in the microwave until some asshole came to visit and used the microwave.

Now the cord is cut to said microwave.

Some vehicles have a way of turning off the fob signal. Like anyone does that.

Be safe out there!

Do you have to download some kind of app for this or is it already on the iPhone.
My company phone is an IPhone and it has never alerted me , and several of the workers have air tags on their equipment . I am around them all the time and have never been alerted.

My Toyota Key fob has a key combination to turn off the transmitter and put it into a sleep mode to reduce battery draw. Hold down the lock button while pressing unlock button twice. Pressing any key will reactivate the fob.

This function is very useful if you need to lock a key fob in the car as it will not let you lock the fob in the car if it is transmitting. I use it for when I am going to get wet like at the lake or beach and don't wan to ruin my key fob. I just remove the mechanical emergency key and use that to get back in the vehicle.

As long as the owner has been nearby within the last few hours it doesn’t alert you. It’s only if the tag has been separated from the owner for a period of time.

Your phone also has to have location services, and find my services turned on for the tag to use your phone as a method to track its location.
