Can a used barrel be nitrided?

I'm thinking of getting a few parts nitrided. Which leads me to a couple questions for those of you in the know:

1) Can a well-used stainless or in-the-white carbon steel barrel be nitrided? Or does the barrel have to be new?

2) If I have a Glock slide that was milled for a RMR and the cut was left in the raw, do they just drop the whole thing in the salt bath as is? Or do they strip the OEM finish off first?

Generally you'll want to thoroughly clean the barrel and glass bead any exterior surfaces so it has an even finish. Same goes for re-nitriding a slide

What about the bore? Can you really get the bore completely clean of carbon, copper, etc, in a barrel that has had a couple thousand rounds through it? Is throat erosion a problem? I probably wouldn't try this in a rifle barrel, but in my case I'm talking about pistol barrels.

Have re-nitrided several, just get the barrel as clean as you can. I use Blue Wonder gel for cleaning barrels and it'll get everything squeaky clean

Any recommendations on who can nitrite a whole rifle if I strip and reassemble ?
Close to Tucson as possible.

I've had barrels and parts done at Controlled Thermal in Phx but I don't know if they do receivers
