So I have been thinking about some new plates. Level 3 or 4?
Yes. Level 3,3+, or 4. UHMP 0r UHMP/ceramic. Much lighter than steel. Armor sucks. The lighter it is, the less it sucks. JMHO, YMMV.

Armor is literally the item you're expecting to save your life.

It makes absolutely zero sense to cheap out here. Stay away from steel. Spend the extra.

Hesco L210s are a really good choice. AT, Spartan, and AR500 (*their ceramics*) are also good options.

I can get level 4 ceramic 200 front 200 back 100 for each side. Does that sound good

Depends on who makes it.

I wouldn't trust my life with plates produced by a non reputable company; regardless of how low the price is.

Use them for?
I want them to stop armour piercing ammo.
I can go 500 fo front and 500 for back and 200 per side

Unless your really fit or mobile, your not gonna hump armor- you will use it back at the fort. Steel is heavy- ceramic is hit de[pendent. it all weighs you down... heavy & slow vs light and fast(er), choose one...

Ranger1 ???

Reviewing his posts it appears he is nothing but a poser baiting for answers and it's possible, could also be a XYZ shill collecting info on those responding...
where is that 444 ignore list... need to add another name...

You guys are all the same. I ask a question you give me a answer. If the OP doesn't like you answer it's his right now to like it. But then you get upset and start wanting to battle over what you say should be gospel. Just to let you know you don't have the right answer. You can offer opinion that's it. I put stuff up to see what others opinions are. I don't put them up so others can dictate to me what needs to happen or your way is better. Don't get mad about it just move on. But you don't. I have level 4 plates you can't get anywhere else. They are light and can take multiple strikes from any AP ammo out there. Where did I get them. What I didn't tell you....just put the question out there to see who had some opinions on other plates. As for this Ranger1 guy. As the day is long I'm not him. But I did look into his posts from the past. Good talk guys . O I had some Dragon skin armour. The best I have ever had,but it will not take multiple strikes in same place.

Maybe your Ranger1. Telling me what to do and asking questions about why I need armour sounds like what him and his aliases would do to people on his site.

I'm glad you feel so angry. Now I know who and what you are. Back in my day I was there, done more than you and started the standard for what you call a operation but I dont flont it. I don't talk about what I did when where and how. But you seem to have a God complex in trying to somehow define yourself with what you did or didn't do. That's cool I dont care. It's just not the important to me ,who and what you are. I leave thing out for a reason. You don't need to know. But by all means tell us what you did to fill the ( I love me wall) you have in your house. Back in my day I did bad things to good and bad people. I don't care to relive it. Get it.??

Body Armor is only effective if you know how to wear it.
A great PDF on how to properly fit your body armor and where it should ride is here:
http://sixty-six.org/files/GUNFIGHTER_ANATOMY_proper_wear_of_armor.pdf
Most individuals I see wearing armor have the plates riding way to low and loose, its uncomfortable in the correct position.
I am a fan of multi-hit, CERTIFIED, ceramic plates. Steel is fine if they are certified. The only non NIJ certified plate you should buy is a military ESAPI rated plate, but it needs to be an NSN coded item not just a claim that "meets ESAPI".
Body armor, if you are serious about it, is something you are trusting to literally take a bullet for you; don't be a cheap ass.

For my "needs" I went with lower cost steel. I have a carrier in my truck and one at home. I'm not planing on any forced marches so the lower cost allowed me to have twice the sets for insurance. Most of the use has been worn while using my treadmill for added workouts..lol
