Senior Russian general is sacked for telling it like it really is.

Russian defense authorities sacked a senior general for detailing “the problems that exist today in the army” to his superiors, according to an audio recording attributed to the embittered commander.

"Our army was not broken through the front, but our most senior commander hit us in the back, thus treacherously beheading the army in the most difficult period,” a man identified as Russian Maj. Gen. Ivan Popov said in a recording that circulated Wednesday on social media.

“I named all the problems that exist today in the army regarding operations, supply,” Popov said, according to a War Translated project. “Due to this, the seniors likely felt some danger in me and instantly, in one day, put together an order to the Minister of Defense and got rid of me.”

“I pointed the attention to the most important tragedy of the modern war — the lack of counterbattery fire, lack of artillery reconnaissance stations, and mass casualties and injuries of our brothers from enemy artillery,” he said. "I also raised a number of other issues, expressed them to the highest levels, did it openly and very brutally."

More Russian generals are being purged by the Kremlin.

Yet another high-profile general was purged in Russia today as Vladimir Putin's defence minister continues to root out anyone viewed as having betrayed the Kremlin.

Paratrooper commander Major-General Vladimir Seliverstov, 49, is the eighth member of the country's top brass to be fired, suspended, detained or vanished in recent months.

Defence minister Sergei Shoigu is alleged to be conducting 'combat operations' against his own staff as key war generals are axed or sidelined.

Among the generals being purged are:

* Major General Vladimir Seliverstov of the VDV (airborne forces)
* General of the Army Sergei Surovikin, "The Butcher of Syria"
* Major General Ivan Popov, commander of Russia's 58th army
* Major General Nikolay Gostev, commander of Russia's 4th Air Force
* Colonel General Andrey Yudin
* Lt. General Vladimir Alexseev
* Colonel General Mikhail Mizintsev
* Colonel General Yunus-bek Yevkurov

Getting blown up in a Hummer for the 3rd time.

This is U.S. Army veteran John Smith, who goes by Nucking-Futs-Yuri online. He retired to Ukraine 10 years ago. He today is a .50 BMG gunner on Hummers. This is footage of him getting blown up for the 3rd time in his 3rd Hummer, soon to be back out there lighting up Russians on Hummer #4. On this mission he was shooting a captured Russian KPV 14.5mm anti-aircraft gun when an artillery shell impacts right next to his vehicle.

Russian milblogger reportedly killed by cluster munitions in Ukraine

One well-known Russian milblogger, Mikhail Luchin - known as "Misha in Donbas" - was reportedly killed today during a cluster munitions strike, the War Gonzo Telegram channel reported.

In April, we told you how Luchin was hacked by Ukrainians, who say they charged $25,000 worth of adult toys to his credit card. The hackers claimed that Luchin was going to use the money to buy drones for Russian troops.
