I'm a bore snake guy most of the time. Just a quick trip and a couple hundres rounds just run a snake through it. For a more thorough cleaning i'll use a brush and patches.

I used to do it the old fashioned way but switched to a bore snake after trying it the first time...saves me so much time. Since I clean after every range trip it does a great job as my guns never get very dirty (except for the trips I send a high number of rounds down range of course).

I don't think I could switch back to the old way now.

Doing it the old way .rod ,brush and patches.after 50 years do not know if I could break the habit.

I usually clean my guns after every outing. If its a semi and I have only put 100 or so rounds through it I will run a patch and then just a bore snake. My revolvers I tend to shot more and I tend to shot at least twice before I clean them since they are a little more effort to clean so I will use patch brush and swab.

Started using the bore snake about a year and a half ago. I like them. Bought one for all the cals. Still run a patch threw, then a few times with the snake. Makes cleaning faster and easier.

it depends on the cleaning i want done. i "spring clean" my guns once a year. this is a more thorough cleaning job where i will break down the gun all the way down to the firing pin. when i go through this cleaning i use rod and brush/patches. the rest of the year is a blow out with air and run a snake threw it a couple times with some hoppes on the first run. i use a dry lube system in order to cut down on the amount of grime that can accumulate. this makes cleaning much easier. it also will depend on the gun i am cleaning too, how much care do i put into my cheap ass maverick 88?? not a whole lot! but when i comes to cleaning my Marlin .444 lever i spend a lot of time and care.

Breakdown: quick clean- snake
Thorough clean- rod and brush/patch

I use a bore snake when I haven't put a lot of rounds thru the barrel after a shoot. Otherwise its a rod and patches.

Almost 50/50 on this one
Always my short rod (giggityj on the pistols, rod on the rifles, but always do a hefty soaking Patch of Hoppes first
