Years and years (and years) ago, the hot concealed carry garment was a Banana Republic vest. BR is long out of the vest business.

What vest are all you cool kids wearing these days?

The whole purpose of the CCW vest originally was that it was supposed to be camouflage that obscured you as the threat, not just the gun. But since the whole Banana Republic vest thing has fallen out of fashion, wearing it today actually sort of fingers you in a crowd as a likely weapon carrier.

Today, to camouflage your tactical azz, you need to blend in with the times. Not only that, but you need to blend in to the "blue" crowds of libtards. And the best vest for that is the "gay" vest.

Any vest that looks like the "life jacket" from Back to the Future. Or, if you're looking for the working man vibe, a conspicuity vest. Or a cowboy vest or just an untucked shirt.

In the absence of any constructive recommendations, I just ordered one of these.

That leather job above is pretty fetching, though, especially with abs like these.

Tried to find out the brand a guy I know wears, but couldn't remember his number. Here's an article with a few in it: https://www.americanfirearms.org/concealed-carry-vests/ You may like one of them if the 5.11 one doesn't work for you.

So, you’re looking for a “shoot me first” vest?

I assume anyone wearing a vest is carrying at least one firearm. Same with people wearing a fanny pack. And anyone wearing a gun related t-shirt.

Sounds like a target rich environment 🤔

Luby's does get sporty.

White court classics and a tan vest will get you taken out 1st nearly 100% of the time...

It was a photographer's vest. I believe protection details wore them to look like the press and carry bigger stuff with them (UZI, HK MP5K). It trickled down and people thought if the protection detail wear these, they must be the hot ticket item. But yes, they were the hot ticket item in the 1980's.

I remember when fanny packs were popular and they started making holsters version. When it fell out of fashion, it was old dudes that didn't know they went out of fashion and cops wearing them. If you were in you 20's and wearing a fanny pack, cop. Of course they are now back in fashion, so it doesn't apply now. My 25 year old co-worker thinks he is slick carry a pistol in his fanny pack while wearing his Magnum PI short shorts.

FWIW, I ended up buying this one, in khaki.
