I was born here in 83'. Both my parents were born in CA, but met here in AZ at NAU. I remember no 101, no 202, US 60 stopped at Power Rd. Every place I grew up dove hunting is now a cookie cutter home community. I remember monsoons before the heat island affect ruined them. Fiesta Mall was the only big place to shop for a long time...and Tri City Mall wasn't a barrio s*** hole area.
Same year here. Parents moved from Utah and Michigan as babies. Used to dove hunt about where my cookie cutter home is located. I was central and west valley. I remember when Christown was ot so terrible, then it turned to spectrum, then od knows what after the light rail went in...

I came from a third world country (Philippines), worked in Singapore for 5 years, then England for 11 years, met my wife and kids born there before moving to our FINAL DESTINATION... Az...

I never saw and had the freedom we have here, compared to the 3 countries I mentioned above, and I have to say, I am a better citizen than many who were born here.

Moved here as a small child, been here for 46yrs, not a native born but as close as I can be.

I'm only 30 years old the older I got during school the more and more kids would say they moved here. Now it seems like I rarely find someone who was born here unless they are from a small town somewhere. My wifes family has multiple generations of Arizonans and were part of settling the north eastern part of the state. There is a small town named after her family and her family roots are deep here in AZ and TX. I love this state and all it has to offer and it really sucks getting older and seeing things change from what they were. The people moving here and changing things to make it more like where they moved from suck.

I wasn't born here , but I have been here over 60 years.
There was nothing around for miles back then , except desert and cotton fields.
I still own the house I grew up in.

Born in '82 in Mesa.
Live in Tempe now.
Parents from Wisconsin and California.
They moved here in '38 and '50.

Have watched everywhere I used to romp here turned into apartments, parking lots, shopping centers or malls.

I moved here about 10 years ago part time and full time now.

It's always funny when I read these threads because they are always a bunch of people who moved here bitching about the other people who moved here.

Unfortunately the city/state governments love property tax dollars so the development won't stop anytime soon. Here in Prescott the cookie cutter subdivisions and golf courses are everywhere.

I wonder what will happen with the water table. It has to be going down a lot faster than they planned.

lol, yeah its like everyone complaining about Arizonan drivers, problem is there don't be a whole lotta Az drivers, its the a..sholes from somewhere else, the comicali are the worst in the world, jmo now

happy sunday

Well, I personally, was born in Mesa, Dad was born in Mesa, Grandpa was Born in Mesa, GGRANDPA came here in 1878.
So not all are someone who moved here bitching about others who moved here.

My biggest complaints are simply, if you move here, don’t try to make this place like the one you left. If someone likes the other place so much, move back.

How many posting here make those comments about wanting to change a thing?

I moved here because I wanted it to be more like the place I grew up (W. Texas), I hated living in Kalifornistan, and to this day, don't even go over the border to that state.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

What's that saying? You can take the boy out of the hood, but you can't take the hood out of the boy. ;) Especially the entitled ones.

It reminds me a lot of west texas particularly some parts of the valley and prescott areas where they do ranching/cattle.

When I got close to Safford AZ, I literally thought I was driving through my home in W. Texas, it was unreal.

I came to AZ in 72 from Detroit. The family bugged out when the libs wanted to bus my little brothers into some sh1thole school. I was about to get into Cass Tech, but Noooooooo.

Jobs and life have taken me out of the state more than a few times, but I always seem to come back.

When we drove into Phoenix in 1972 I still remember the sign, "Welcome to Phoenix, population 250,000 thousand"

Place sure has changed, and I miss the old days of 100 year floods and journalist car bombs. Even Even Mecham, the prophet. AZSCAM, when you could buy an AZ rep for a couple hundred bucks. Good times!

Edit, What was the name of the old AZ Republic editor who was busted for being a fake WWII vet?
