Just want to put a plug in for these folks. I really appreciate all they do to promote the shooting sports here in AZ. Not only do they provide insurance for matches. They advocate for us (firearms owners) at the State Legislature, provide instruction/training and facilitate matches throughout the state.
Here is a link check em out; https://asrpa.com

So, can you tell me which good legislation they are responsible for to come in to law?

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Clyde,
I'm a match shooter and am grateful for the infrastructure they provide to allow for that. I know they do other things, but my focus is on competition.

I contacted the ASRPA out of my own curiosity and this was the reply.

20 bills to date killed in committee. The main ones that are anti-2A is:

- Duty to retreat
- Additional background checks
- Requires firearms to be locked up
- Ban AR-15s
- Ban Glock switch
- Ban magazines with more than 10 rounds

Those are some of the more popular ones.

If they had a hand in killing these bills give me the name of their representative. I'm an AzCDL coordinator, we have a full-time lobbyist working in the Arizona capital, counties and municipalities, to maintain and improve our gun rights.

It would be worthwhile to have your representative work with our lobbyist to accomplish even more. Maybe he/she can help push SB1014 through, It's a bill our lobbyist wrote for shooters in Arizona.

Perhaps your person can also help in county fights like ours against Pima county and another with Sedona. AzCDL is always looking for all the help we can get. Let's get them together. He/she can contact me or let me know through DM here and I will contact them and set up a meeting. Contacts and headcounts matter.

On another level we have been fighting with BLM for about 5 years now over recreational shooting, which include all levels of practice, not just long range. We could certainly use help there.

I will contact him to see what they are doing. I'm more interested in your opinion, on legislative action. You said you contacted them about legislative action, since I'm very involved in it with AzCDL and always looking for support and very MUCH trying to figure out what shooters are thinking, what caused your curiosity about legislative action? My experience has been that shooters have very little concern or are totally uninformed about what is going on in Arizona, maybe a combination of the two.

Like "Jnojr" said, Arizona firearms legislation is AzCDL's mission, we have no long range, short range, rifle or pistol, shooting clubs. We are an Arizona firearms rights organization. We have recently formed a political PAC and a litigation arm. Our litigation arm was used to sue Pima county, we just won last month, with the court forcing Pima to repeal their illegal firearms law. In speaking with 100s of shooters at both AZGFD Expo and CANCON, only 2 shooters were even aware of the Pima law being implemented. They were also not aware that the law was litigated, then repealed. Several of the shooters I spoke to live in Tucson, in Pima county. Only a handful of shooters knew that Phoenix violated AZ firearms law because "they saw something about that", and nobody knew about the city of Sedona's plan to implementing an illegal firearms ordinance, a decision our lobbyist caused to be reversed.

Our full-time lobbyist reviews all firearm laws in the state including city ordinances, and works with our legislators at all levels, state county, and city. I'm only interested in two things here:

1 - What sparked your interest, causing you to question ASRPA about legislation action? That is not normal for an Arizona shooter.

2 - if legislation is an ASRPA priority, what are they doing, how, and would they like to join AzCDL, since we have a PAC, a Litigation arm, and a full-time lobbyist who reviews all Arizona gun laws? This is something I can ask the gentleman you referred me too in the PM.

Anything you are aware of about legislation, post here, in public, instead of PMs. Arizona shooters are in the dark, they have no idea what is happening until, before they ask, HOWED THAT HAPPEN.

In all transparency I am one of those who does not follow legislation like I should. If it’s in the news I’ll read about it. I vote accordingly for candidates who share our values.

When asked questions I seek answers. That’s what I did in my response to your posted question about what the ASRPA has done. I contacted the Vice President and asked. As an ASRPA member I was very happy to see how accessible and transparent they were when asked questions.

I would like to see the AzCDL and ASRPA join forces we are only stronger together!

I appreciate you getting my thoughts off of the day to day complacency and will do better when it comes to paying attention to legislation. As an active competitor and collector these matters do effect my hobbies/interest and my inalienable rights.

All the best,
Scott
