6.8 or 300 BLK? Which one

I like the versatility of the 300 BLK. I’ve loaded rounds with 110gr up to 208gr subs. Even unsurpressed the 208gr rounds are very quiet

My personal opinion, but 6.8 makes no sense when 6.5 Grendel is available.

6.5 Grendel is usually easier to find as well isn't it?

Commercial FMJ is available from Wolf and Privi Partisan amongst others.

300 BLK for pistol builds and suppression. A lot of fun in a small package. I don't have anything in 6.8 but I love my 6.5 Grendel with a 20" barrel.

Getsum and I bought some Barnaul 6.5 Grendel a few months ago at a very reasonable price, and it shoots great. It's great for practice. There are lots of 6.5 projos available now as well for reloading, although I have started doing that for it yet. There is also some decent looking factory hunting ammo also. Having said great stuff about the Grendel, I still won't replace my 5.56 guns with it.

I have a .300 SBR, and also one in full size, my only hangup with them is the price of ammo!

They are NOT a plinking round...

I hear ya, Cool Arrow,... I only load 300BLK for moderate velocity with Hornady 225grn HP's, but even they are over 30 cents each!

For desert plinking, target, load development,... I cast 200 grn lead from a LEE mold that has a profile I felt would not give me cycling problems. But, reasonably priced, clean, pure lead and linotype isn't cheap anymore, either!

It depends on your goal. If you are looking for a general 5.56 replacement, probably the 6.8. If you are wanting more of a niche gun that excels in CQB, (AND you plan on doing a 9-12" pistol/SBR) then the 300 Blackout is hard to beat, esp considering the ability to swap subs and supers. IMO, a 16"+ 300 Blackout does not have enough benefits over a traditional 5.56 AR to justify the ammo cost and reduced range, esp when 65 Grendel is available. On that, I'd rather have a Grendel over a 6.8. Take a look into the energy and velocity of a Grendel even out of a shorter barrel.

No, you did not fix it. lol.

Performance wise, yes. Price not so much. I was half right!
Realistically? No!

If you really want to be realistic, stick with .556 and .308. There will be plenty of it lying around on the ground and unmarked locations in the near future.
I love caliber debates, they are rather fun!

This...

Need a little info on what it is you want out of the gun and the intended use.
