You might not need a 10mm for bear

The recent fatal bear attack has probably boosted sales of 10mm autos here, but if you are considering getting one ( 'oh no! Another gun, another caliber to load!'..), you may not really need one if you own a 357 mag...if bears are the reason, that is.
Buffalo Bore's Heavy 357 magnum Outdoorsman lists it's 180 gr hardcast LFN-GC @ 1400fps/ME 783 ft lbs. That's way more energy than a factory 10mm with a bullet style that more lends itself to a revolver- the wide meplat design that Randy Garret introduced decades ago for his Hammerhead loads in 44mag and 45/70.
In the 3in bbl SP101 that has been my EDC forever, that velocity has to be less, admittedly, but until I can chrono it, I am still inclined to switch to it for trail walks.

You definitely don't need a 10mm. Google Bella Twin 1953 World Record Grizzly.
Shot placement is everything.
