I was going to NP3 a handgun (again) but its no longer available to the public ? QPQ Black Nitride reads like black NP3 any owners please comment
?

NP3 hasn't existed at a consumer level for over a year. Black Nitride and NP3 are completely different, chemically speaking. NP3 is a nickel plating infused with Teflon. QPQ Black Nitride is closer related to case hardening, but iron nitride/oxide and salt baths. Also known as Melonite or Tenifer.

A Gen4 or Gen5 Glock pistol is a prime example of QPQ Black Nitride...but Glock calls it Tenifer.

NP3 adds considerably more dimension to a part, when compared to a nitride finish. Something to keep in mind if you are refinishing internal components.

I believe they are the current source for all things NP3. I had bought a gun that had been coated, and I took it up there for a look-see. One of the customer-service guys verified it was NP3. He explained that they really don't do one-offs, but if a distributor or producer contracts for multiples, they still do that.
Wouldn't hurt to call and ask......
