I must be missing something but .. I like and have owned several Rock island 1911's but a lot of that Love is because for what you get they were a bargain. A 5-$600 reliable somewhat good looking 1911.

But would you pay $1000 for a Rocky? Am I missing something?

Well the MSRP is $998 - what will it be on the shelf? Probably a bit cheaper. If it is an "all new" design then there is probably a bit of R&D and testing dollar to make up for.

I'm going to get one, love there premium fs 22tcm/9. its msrp is $949 think I got it for $850 so this should be in the same ball park.

The newness of the design is one of the reasons I might not put up $1000. I would wait for reports from the beta testers. Still I can't help to think they had an awesome niche and playing with new designs might not fly. But then I have been wrong plenty of times!!

I think this one is made to compete with the CZ Shadow type, if it’s as accurate and reliable $1000 is a pretty good price.

I would bet it's one of Fred Craig's designs he works for them and developed the tcm round. I talked to him when tcm first came out he told me he used to build 2011 race guns and had designed other guns for several big name manufactures. Seemed like a super nice guy. I think one of his designs was on the cover of an old gun magazine several years back.

It certainly is an interesting pistol, but I learned long ago to not be a beta tester for new firearms.

In case you haven't heard about the gun here is some more info

It's a pretty wild design

I have that one too this is the one with all the bells and whistles. If you got the one with the full length dust cover, mag well etc for $600 you scored.

You are comparing apples to zebras. This gun is made in the USA...not the Phillipines. Also a completely new design...someone has to pay for all that R&D.

Well, that won't be me.

I'm not opposed to paying for a quality item. But at this point, I have no idea if it is or isn't.

And even if it is,...is it worth double the price of several other perfectly capable and reliable options? Probably not.

I just watched a video on how it works. It is interesting to say the least, can't say I have seen any other handgun that works quite the same. Honestly, if it is as fast/flat shooting as they say I think given the market for that type firearm it may be a pretty good deal. Just need to see if it is reliable - supposedly they have been working on it for several years so hopefully that will yield few teething issues. If so, I will pick one up just for it's uniqueness.

Considering a Beretta 92 these days is $700 after tax, same for a CZ75 - if this thing hits the streets for 800ish bucks I would think that is a pretty good deal.

I wouldn't pay $1K, would consider $700 - $800 after getting a few rounds for a feel.

Being the 1st version definitely taking a chance.
