Winchester Lever action 1908 vintage

Have a friend with a I think 1886 model Winchester didn't see the gun just going by description. He claims to have documents showing it was used by Admiral Richard Byrd on a Arctic expedition.He needs an appraisal of the gun and paperwork with possible sale or donation to a museum. Is their anyone in the greater Phoenix area capable of doing an appraisal or at least a name and address of a Winchester expert on 19th century model Winchesters. Thanks any info appreciated. New member to this forum and a fan of WWI an WWII weapons.
