I still have people occasionally tell me they believe you need to make "two separate motions" to legally keep a pistol in your car. So for example you have to keep it in the glovebox inside a flap holster.

People hear something that sounds "tactical", they don't know themselves but want to be thought of as knowledgeable, so they repeat what they heard. Got the same thing in reloading and in other places.
