There is certainly enough "ugh" to go around here. The Boarders certainly shouldn't be allowed to destroy private property. Some groundskeeper is probably spending hours a week just repainting railing but ... Gun owner IN MY OPINION did no favors for the gun community.

From the camera vantage point .. he is lucky the skate guy is not violent because he looked in a perfect position to bean the gun wielder.

There is a social media platform for your neighborhood called nextdoor. Toxic as most smedia but good work done uniting lost pets and owners and an occasional bargain but.....I have lost count of the people who publicy post their intentions to shoot people for trespassing, ding dong ditch etc. Keyboard noise to be sure but their lack of any gun decorum is astounding.

That old doofus is lucky those skaters had a lot of restraint and weren't like the homies I hung out with back in the day. He would have had a permanent truck imprint across his forehead, and *if* he woke up, would have found himself soaked in urine (not his own).

Agg assault? No. Possession on school grounds? Yes. Plea on the assault? Yes. Ars hole stretch in his future? Yes.

Another retard.

No one's gonna want to touch that bunghole.

Agg assault for sure under ARS 13-1204A2. Class 3 felony.

Misconduct involving weapons for carrying on school grounds under ARS13-3102A12. Already a misdemeanor.

He will loose the capability to own or carry guns.

What isn’t being reported is one of the kids is connected to family in LE. They are pushing hard for charges.

To play Devil's Advocate here for just a moment;...have we all forgotten how bludgeoning people with skateboards is a popular punk move with certain youths?

I'm not arguing that the gun guy was in the right at all;...however,...I think one can make an argument that someone holding a skateboard in hand is potentially as "armed" as someone holding a screwdriver or bat.

I’m sure his lawyer will make that argument. However there is a couple problems to get reasonable doubt unless he is being defended by Mehrens:

He’s already given an interview and stated he pulled his gun for a different reason.

He intentionally put himself in that position to possibly be harmed when he went on his own to confront those kids. He had no standing to confront the kids as he doesn’t represent the church/school. It would be a different case if the kids approached him in public, but that isn’t what happened.

If he felt “threatened” why didn’t he try to disengage and create distance? Why did he get out of his car?

A judge/jury will only decide on one factor….reasonableness. Gonna be really hard to convince a finder of fact that it was reasonable to draw his gun in this instance. Most people will correctly deduce he drew his gun to intimidate the kids.

The skateboard was on the ground when the guy pulled his gun.
That kid was no threat whatsoever.
In my opinion there was no reason whatsoever for a gun to be pulled in this predicament.
The guy with the gun is a moron.

Oh you can certainly get a good ding from a Skateboard especially with the trucks but .. From what I read in a separate article .. the gun guy was not a custodian of the property in any way. Didn't work there and if my recollection serves .. he didn't even attend. He was a neighbor from behind the church/school.

Maybe he was just sick of the noise but he inserted himself in that mess. It wasn't forced on him by the skate boarders and it looks like he leapt out of the car with gun in hand or soon thereafter so he hadn't yet experienced a threat.

Man I miss my long board. That was a fun ride. No place to ride it where I am now or I might buy another and really hurt myself.
