As my son and I embark on a long awaited AZ Pronghorn Hunt this week, it has become painfully apparent over the last few months of shooting that most factory bolt guns leave something to be desired when trying to shoot out beyond 400 Yds. So i am considering selling all of my bolt guns and taking that money to put towards one custom purpose built hunting rifle. Not sure what that would look like, what caliber, lightweight or heavy or who i should go to for the build. Just spitballing. Hoping the hunt goes well for us and especially my son as hes been putting in since he was 12 years old. Hes 26 now. I'm too old to crawl on my belly like i used to hunting speedgoats.

See Keith at Phoenix Custom Rifles he builds great rifles and is a hunter as well.

In this environment, I just want more ammo.

Yeah, I find myself wishing I'd bought a helluva lot more ammo during the "golden Trump years." I did alright, but towards the end funds got tighter for me, and I couldn't always replace what I'd shot. I'm sitting pretty on .22LR, doing pretty good as far as .223 and 9mm go, but I'm down to a case and a half of .308 FGMM. I have about a thousand 168gr ELD-M projectiles for reloading, but once those are gone, I'll be out. So in general I prioritize ammo over most other things, but I'm also trying not to buy a ton of it when prices are crazy, in the hopes that in a few years prices will come down somewhat. I don't know if we'll ever see the Trump era prices again (man, FGMM at $0.78 to $1.25 a shot for 175s was great!), but I'm also not paying $2.50+ a shot if I don't have to. So I buy when funds allow and I come across a good deal (once in awhile they still pop up).

As for an AIAT folder, that's the stuff! I really miss mine. I've sold a LOT of stuff over the years as I've dabbled in various things to find out what really matters most to me, but that one's near the top of my "most regrettable things I've sold" list. They really are phenomenal rifles, as long as the chassis agrees with you. I honestly don't think I'll ever buy another custom rifle for precision shooting. An AI is really all I'd need.

I second Keith at Phoenix Custom Rifles. He does amazing work.

My debit card has been set on fire - the ol' timey way.

Ordered a Kibler Longrifle kit.

A slam pig 7.62x51 AR10 style rifle

What is that????'

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Clyde

I use the term “slam pig”’as an endearing term. Like a “truck gun” except it can take a beating and doesn’t give you much fuss.

I’ve also referred to women as such….you know the kind you can always count on, not really fussy or overly pretty.

And no one understood when I called ‘em “timex”

Would love to have a p320c or p320 in .40. I've had one on order since last November, but apparently, Sig is not currently making them due to the popularity & production of the M17, M18, & 365. Meh.

Could you buy a 9mm then get a .40 barrel and mags?

It only works the other way around. You can't go UP, it has to come down. Buy a .40, use a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm or .357sig.
