Which bull-pup are top choices?

Well I own 2 of them (A Tavor & a RFB). Both have been reliable over the years with little to no problems. The only downside that I have noticed is using the Tavor and shooting 5.56x45, produces a supersonic sound that MY ears just can't handle. I have several AR15 + a full auto one and have never had a hearing this issue with any of them. But the Tavor being so short, it would actually hurt my ears (Even with double hearing protection Plugs+Muff's). I decided to convert it to 9mm a few years back, and now its one of my favorite toys to shoot. Its a tac driver out to 50-70yrds. Love it. The Tavor has had a squib followed by a followup round (a couple of years ago - not my reloads/somebody elses), It survived it with no issues. The only part that needed replacement was the dust shield.
The Keltec RFB has been a reliable semi-long distance weapon ( 500-700yrds) are no problem. It also has been a really reliable weapon and has never had to go back to the factory for any repairs. The only down side I have seen with it is that "If your shooting up hill, ie Above you) since it ejects the cartridges via a slide towards the front of the weapon", it has a habit of jamming spent cartridges in that slide. Shooting it level or downwards is no problem.
Other than those 2 issues (one which most people may not even notice), they are both great guns.
They also take up less space in the safe because they are shorter !

I have owned or shot an FS2000, Aug and and RDB. If I had to choose a go to war / high volume shooting rifle it would be the Aug or FS2000. Both have been totally reliable with quality ammo. My reloads at times screwed things up, not the rifles fault, mine. I am shooting an RDB now. It costs a 1/3 of the other two and has been 100% with quality ammo. No problems with mine and about 1500 rounds through it. I use it in 3 gun, so it is my all round rifle. To each his own but for the money I will be keeping the RDB and shooting the heck out of it.
I like the looks of the FS2000 but choke on the price.
I'm impressed with all the glowing reports on the Keltec offering- they just seem so rough looking- like a club... might have to shoot one sometime.
The AUG is a classic... like having a 65 'tang.
The KM is also reminiscent of the old BM but with all the problems fixed and the MDR has interesting specs worth checking into further...
And of course, the Tavor is the current darling-It looks good and has a good rep so I might be able to find a used one at a decent price more easily than the others (except for the RDB).
No decision yet on any of them, I'm still getting used to the sticker shock...

I have shot an AUG quite a bit and liked how it shot, would own one if I found a good deal on one. I own and shoot a Tavor and also like it a lot. I installed a better trigger in it and that has made a big difference in how it shoots for me
I agree with storage_man, that weird noise/vibration/hum(?) is disconcerting with the Tavor, I've never owned a bull-pup, but have shot the Tavor, an AUG, an FS2000, an aftermarket stock on a Mini-30 (TRASH) and an MDR in 5.56. My favorite was the MDR but the AUG has the most proven record. All of them had second or third rate triggers and were way out of my budget for what they were. All of them seemed ill balanced. for the same money I would prefer a high end AR and spare cash.
I have a FS 2000, Aug, Tavor, RFB, KM M17 .308. The FS 2000 is out of production and is a novelty at this point. Was an interesting design, pretty reliable crappy trigger stanag mags. The Aug is well tested and has lots of support. Still looks cool and futuristic 40 plus years later 9mm caliber swap kits are out there but very expensive. Proprietary mags unless you get the Nato version or a conversion stock. Some have built in optic that you either love or hate. Some have a rail that may or may not work with the optic you want to use. The Tavor i have spent almost 400.00 to make the trigger better and its pretty good now but not my favorite. Has lots of support and aftermarket, caliber swap kits available but pricey. The RFB is well a Keltec with all that implies. I like that it accepts common fal mags but its got its quirky issues not much aftermarket, rail is not high enough for a lot of optics trigger is pretty good. The M17S from KM is really nice. Its a reboot of an old Bushmaster 17 rifle that was not very successful for a variety of reasons. The Trigger is really nice much better than any other stock bullpup. The reciever is a work of art. It takes standard (if thats actually a thing) or should i say the most common AR-10 mags. The experience of buying it right from the mfg is pleasant and interesting. If i could only keep one it would be the M17S just because of the AZ connection, the .308 cal and its trigger. All of them are interesting none are inexpensive. All are fun to shoot well unless they blow up which would not be good where the chamber is. Knocking on wood that does not happen.

Over on Snipers Hide there were a couple pretty negative owner opinions of the MDR so I scratched it off my list.
The KM seems to be the top contender with the Aug and KelTec in second position. Good to know there are different versions of Aug mag compatibility.. i didn't know that. Interesting no one has mentioned the Aug lookalike... the Microtech MSAR - are they comparable to the Aug?

I had an MSAR but it was problematic. FTF, FTE, Mag issues Those came out when the Aug was not available other than really expensive pre-ban guns so it filled a niche. But once the US Augs were available the company struggled. There CS was terrible in my situation. I don't think there still being made anymore but not positive. I had one that went back to them three times before i gave up and sold it at a loss to someone that knew the issues and wanted to mess with it. I personally would not own one now. I know some have gotten good ones but it was not my experience.
I picked up an RDB a couple of weeks ago on a whim. I didn't know a ton about them, but I put about 600 rounds through it, and I'm loving it! The trigger is really good, and phenomenal for a bullpup. I don't think I'm getting rid of it any time soon.
Please try shooting the RDB! Great gun! I got a great price on a used one, and I think Kel-Tec just released or is about to release a new model, so the older ones should come down in price even more.h8pvmnt said:
