...sometimes the wilderness visits you unexpectedly.

This winter has been pretty dry. And that lack of rainfall has made life harder for the wild things just beyond our little 1-acre ranchette.

Our neighbor came out this afternoon to her patio to find this bobcat staring at her. She had previously been experiencing trouble with pigeons deciding to roost up in those rafters. About a week ago, she began seeing a whole lot of pigeon feathers laying about, but the pigeons were no longer always there. And now we know why. I think this also explains a few missing small dogs in the area.

Similar thing happened to me a number of years ago.

Came home from work and a bobcat was chilling in the shrubs next to my front door. I didn't see it until it moved as I was going inside.

Middle of the day. In town. 44st and Baseline.

There not uncommon around here.
There were three of them living in a vacant barn next door a year or so ago.
I haven't seen them in awhile , but neighbors chickens and ducks still come up missing once in awhile.
I have found a few chickens and ducks buried with leaves and sticks on my side of the fence.

lol, i live in no central phx, by lookout mt, we have javeies, and bobbers regularly, my cameras pickm up regularly, glad to have the bobbers they manage to manage the free range kitties.

Couple pics of bobcats caught on my cameras. I live near near Thunderbird Park (north Glendale). The first pic was last May by my front door around 5:30 AM, and the second pic was last month in the backyard at 2:44 PM.

We get them all the time on our acre and a half along with Coyotes, Mountain Lions, Once a Grey Wolf, Roadrunners, Gila Monsters, Javelinas, Deer, Any and all snakes and other reptiles and of course Tarantulas. This one was drinking water outside one of our windows.
