My very first gun was an M1A SOCOM 16. I probably could have learned on something cheaper.

New, as in first gun? Or, new, as in new to me gun?

Think I was under 10 when I got my first gun. Don't remember any silliness. Dad wouldn't allow...

New to me? Put it the safe for years without sending one down range...

Six or seven. I looked down the barrel of a charged CO2 pellet revolver, while my parents and grandmother where standing there. Boy did I learn gun safety right then and there. I was razzed for a few days, and haven't looked down a barrel since.

The silliest thing I did after starting to buy guns was waiting before getting some training. I got more out of a few hours with an instructor than I did in months of self practice.

Back when I was 18 I bought a WASR because they were dirt cheap, I found a PSL scope and slapped that bad boy on. It had the dong grip and I put a "crapco" folding stock and pistol grip on it, and don't forget the 75 round drum to top it off. It looked ridiculous but boy did I love that thing.

I kind of miss that silly stuff actually, guns seemed a lot more fun back then. Maybe because WASRs and the like were affordable even for an 18 year old out in the world.

I’ll assume you mean real firearm, so probably buying every accessory known to man when I got my first AR

This right here. My AR was so heavy that I seen built a second and left just about everything off.

Been there... Still doing that...
I picked up a S&W M&P FDE .40 about 3 years ago that has been in the safe ever since... Simply haven't had occasion... :icon-rolleyes:

I moved here from 1 month before the AWB expired And went to my 1st SAR show ever. I had a hard on for a PSL and finally found one there. Went to Avery and realized I didn't put the scope back on correctly, first shot it fell off hit the ground and shattered the optic. I did get lucky though and bought one off of ebay, it arrived in a cake box sealed with nothing but string and a few pieces of tissue paper. No idea how it made it in one piece but it did.

Knocked myself over firing my grandpas .444 marlin lever action when I was 11 years old. Landed on my ass, but I kept the rifle in a safe direction and didn’t drop it. My grandpa, uncles, and Dad couldn’t stop laughing. That was my first time shooting and when I got my first BB gun.

I was 18 and bought one of the "Hell Fire Trigger" gadgets. You do not get to be old and wise without being young and foolish. But it was a fun way to waste a lot of ammo without hitting the target.
