There are (4) rifles that I'll absolutely never get rid of, but if I had to single out one as my absolute favorite it'd be the M1 Carbine.

I’ve never had or shot an M1 Carbine, but that is on my wishlist. The way things are going, it would seem that will be way down the line though. I time machine back to the 90’s would prove to be very beneficial!

I'd buy up a whole bunch, and some SKS's and AK's... ... and a bunch of Amazon and Google stock!

I don't recall exactly how much SKSs were going for back then. Was it $99 or so?

Neither the M1 Carbine I shot in high school nor the one I own are very accurate, but they sure are fun to shoot. I've always thought they were pretty to look at too. Especially the early flat bolt/high wood walnut versions.

The lowest I paid for an SKS(norinco) was $49.99 plus tax. That was from sportsman’s at 7th Avenue and camelback.

You’re all blowing my mind right now... 😂

I traded a Nintendo 64 for a Russian SKS back in 1998. i still have the rifle, I bet the N64 is long gone. It's far from my favorite rifle though.

Back in the late 80's semi AK's (AKM's or whatever they were, probably Norinco?) were going for just over $100 from Old Sac Armory in Sacramento, CA (yes the capitol) and I remember seeing guys going out of there with armloads of them. Course I was a poor college kid back then and had no $ to spend on guns unfortunately.

A tough one: If hard pressed My Marlin 1895 in .45-70, with a big loop, HD ejector and extended magazine tube. (8 + 1=9) It is about 20 years old. I bought it new. It has the Ballard cut rifling. I have since sanded off all factory checkering, slimmed down the forearm grip and given it a 10 coat linseed oil finish.
Yes it looks flat but it is hard and slick, so resists rain well. It has the look of a no nonsense work gun.
I cannot see clearly much beyond 400 yards, so it suits me fine. Thanks to all!

Oh for the ol’days. With my dealer ffl, I used to buy polytec legends for $269.00.
I used to buy 10 at a time. I charged all of $50 each weapon. Then I woke up one morning and Bush sr. Funkin banned the import of them. I had already sold my last of that group. I called my distributors. Nobody had ANYTHING to buy. Understand this was pre internet, so it took us all by surprise. I haven’t owned one since. I won’t pay 2k for a legend. That I know was under $300.
Yes, I’m a Funkin Old Guy!
Or as I say Funkin OG! 😂

My favorite rifle to shoot is my Swedish AG-42 Ljungman rifle. Unique action and in a great caliber.

Careful with that thing ,,,, It wants to eat your finger.
I use to have a Hakim and it seems it always took some different kind of weird voodoo to open and close the action .
My fingers never felt comfortable around it.
